“He’s always supported immigration reform”
I’ve learned that Gutierrez met Thursday with Rubio, the Florida Republican — and son of Cuban immigrants — in his Senate office here. On Dec. 12, Gutierrez huddled with Ryan — the Wisconsin Republican who was Mitt Romney’s vice presidential running mate — at his House office…
Not well known, Gutierrez noted, is that he and Ryan share some history: In 2005, Ryan was a co-sponsor of bipartisan and bi-cameral comprehensive immigration reform legislation carried in the House by Gutierrez and Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.). “It wasn’t like it was a long line of Republicans supporting it. He’s always supported immigration reform,” Gutierrez said…
“I had a good meeting with Sen. Rubio and I look forward to talking to him against early and often in the New Year. As I have said, he can play a very important role on the immigration issue and will help the Republican Party address the immigration issue in a productive way, in a way that resonates both with Latinos and the rest of America,” Gutierrez said.

Please call this want this is … amnesty. It’s insulting to call it “immigration reform”.
Anyway, it really doesn;t matter. Drug cartels are taking over urban areas, jobs are becoming harder to find … soon illegal aliens will find themselves in a craphole like the one they left.

Good. Maybe Ryan and Rubio can revolutionize the GOP. Ignoring the inevitable is senseless. Unless you wanna keep losing elections.

oh yes and lets do this in another eight years and then lets do another eight years after that.
Republicans will continue to lose elections after this just by bigger margins, but people like you never seem to get that through your skull.

Smear tactic.

“I’m always struck, if one chances to be with a GOP insider when a new poll rolls off the wire, that their first reaction is to query whether it’s of “likely” voters or merely “registered” voters. As the consultant class knows, registered voters skew more Democrat than likely voters, and polls of “all adults” skew more Democrat still. Hence the preoccupation with turnout models. In other words, if America had compulsory voting as Australia does, the Republicans would lose every time. In Oz, there’s no turnout model, because everyone turns out. The turnout-model obsession is an implicit acknowledgment of an awkward truth — that, outside the voting booth, the default setting of American society is ever more liberal and statist.”
We’re already screwed. Buy defensible, arable land and begin Cloward Piven. It’ll be easier to pick up the pieces afterward.

Yeah, I saw that too. Divide the Republicans and conquer.

Hee.. Ryan is really good at getting people to do and say things that help Ryan’s political career. The little tidbit about how he cosponsored legislation in 2005 was amusing. Also, who wants to bet that both Ryan and Rubio are going to outdo themselves on this one.
Illinidiva on December 27, 2012 at 9:39 AM
What makes it a tid-bit?
What did the legislation consist of, and was it stand alone or attached to something?
I don’t know..you imply you do, so I’m just asking.
Mimzey on December 27, 2012 at 9:54 AM
I don’t know exactly what it was.. However, Ryan would totally like it to be known that he, unlike Romney, likes Latinos and was totally for immigration reform when Dubya was President. So this isn’t driven by his political ambitions (although it totally is).

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION reform. If you’re not going to call it amnesty, then don’t leave out the critical word.
RoadRunner on December 27, 2012 at 10:08 AM
What will lose elections is if the GOP mints tens of millions of new Democrat voters and zero new Republican voters via amnesty.
Doomberg on December 27, 2012 at 10:23 AM
Umm.. How about we give the people what they want… work permits but make them jump through lots of hoops to become citizens.
Illinidiva on December 27, 2012 at 10:32 AM
Apparently the need for poor people who cannot pay their bills or speak English is so great we have to import more.
NeoKong on December 27, 2012 at 10:51 AM
What are you basing that claim on?
Mimzey on December 27, 2012 at 11:13 AM
Being cynical?? Also, it is amusingly obvious that both Rubio and Ryan are going to spend the next two years pandering to Latinos. One thing that wouldn’t shock me is if Ryan brought up any past work on this issue to counter any arguments about 2012 and Romney.
