Guns endanger more than they protect
Now that so many Americans carry weapons when they go out of the home, shooting incidents can occur anywhere, including very commonly the road. Another recent incident: In Pensacola, Florida, in October a man in a Jeep Cherokee cut off another car. A roadway confrontation followed, the two cars stopped, and the Jeep owner emerged to shoot the other driver in the knee. He was arrested this past week.
In these cases, and thousands like them each and every year, it is not so clear who is the “good guy” exercising responsible self-protection and who is the “bad guy” who can only be deterred by an armed citizen.
But the guns in their hands protected exactly nobody. They turned ordinary altercations into murderous exchanges of fire. They brought wounds, death and criminal prosecution where otherwise there would likely only have been angry words or at worst, black eyes.
LaPierre’s offers a vision of American society as one unending replay of the worst scenes in Charles Bronson’s 1974 vigilante classic, “Death Wish.”

That is why cops carry guns, right?

And the so called “No Labels” crowd is generally self-serving jerks. Frum is one of the only people who Dubya has actually fired. Tells you lots about Frum.

I think it’s time to begin a nationwide survey program that needs to include the question if someone saved themselves or another from harm or a crime due to their firearm.

Frum’s streak of raging liberalism, illogic, and contempt for American values continues unbroken.
Robert_Paulson on December 25, 2012 at 8:46 PM
Facts aren’t Frum’s strong point are they?
I believe that there are interviews suggesting 1 million+ incidents per year of firearms preventing crime and statistical evidence suggesting fire arms reduce the number of rapes, armed robberies and assaults.

Shooting at CT elementary school. Obviously, we need to lower the age limit for concealed carry so toddlers can defend themselves.

Say, Davey, howzabout you go around wearing a big, blaze orange shirt saying: ‘I AM UNARMED’
Because that is what you want to do to everyone else, so lets just start with you and see how ‘safe’ you feel.
ajacksonian on December 25, 2012 at 9:25 PM
But you see, “history” is just something that lefties like Frum make up on the fly. And they can pull any numbers out of their collective ass. Like: 87.8% of people with guns are often victims of gun violence.

If David’s so in favor of it, let him put a “GUN FREE ZONE” sign in his front yard.

David is a real Republican, unlike people like you, in his mind at least.
Has Meghan McCain weighed in with her opinion on guns/gun control yet – my life won’t be complete ’til I know! I’m also wondering, have David and Meghan have ever had sex, and, God forbid, reproduced?

These fluking leftists fundamentally misunderstand the notion that all men are created equal. If the Pols get to walk around with security armed with automatics we get to have our semi-automatic pistols and rifles.
Fluke you David Frum a country nobodies gives a damn about!
jawkneemusic on December 25, 2012 at 10:29 PM
Because you don’t even need a firearm to play this game. I saved myself from being a victim of domestic violence, by simply credibly claiming that I would use a gun if I were a victim. There wasn’t even a gun in the house. Gun ownership benefits people like me who don’t own guns.
thuja on December 25, 2012 at 10:38 PM
It occurs to me that my experience is one that Frum would say is example of illegal use of threat. The guy who was a menace to me was a body builder and I could have been seriously hurt. I don’t wish to share more of the circumstances, but I do think I can safely say that besides the most wacked out gun control freaks, everyone would have sympathy for why I took this “illegal” step.
thuja on December 25, 2012 at 10:42 PM
As petefrt indicated, these people are either evil or clueless – they don’t value your innocence or your inherent right to self-defense, which is why they believe in zero-tolerance to the insane degree that they see people who stand up bullies as being no different morally than the bullies themselves.
People like Frum are not worthy to share the same planet with people like us, and I am not being exaggerative at all when I say that.
Anti-Control on December 25, 2012 at 11:09 PM
Seriously, it’s time for liberals to put up or shut up – either amend the Constitution to prohibit private ownership of guns, or leave us alone.

What a tool! It’s like he’s trying to make society sound like a bunch of gunslingers from the old west just waiting for somebody to look at them wrong to use as an excuse to mow folks down in the street.
I know I’m preaching to the choir, but doesn’t he know his English and American history? It’s not just the American War for Independence. The colonists had English history to look at for reason as to why they wanted to protect the right to keep and bear arms. The answer to the unspoken question is that Frum has an agenda, just like his progressive friends – one that is not friendly to liberty.

This is another gem to showcase Frum’s complete idiocy. Together with his ‘(Obama) Leading From Behind’ comment, the right kicked him out of the club a long time ago.
A shame the guy kept clinging to his empty msm-dubbed role as a rightwing commentator.
