It is cute how easily manipulated you are. When I was developing my political identity in my teenage years I came to certain conclusions and never encountered anything to change them. Even in the face of massive peer influence to believe otherwise. You on the other hand made a 180 in your beliefs in less than a year.

Such a thing has never existed; our status as an immigrant state with no ethnic legacy means that it has always been freely chosen cooperation, not a common cultural background, that has kept us united, and even then we once had to practically destroy ourselves over cultural differences.

In general, though, I think the assumption that this is even one nation, given the definition of the term, ought to be questioned. In other words, why shouldn’t we balkanize?

I love how the writer fails to notice the idiocy of his aprior assumption that internationalism ISN’T toxic. It is in fact the only thing common to literally every war, act of oppression, instance of slavery, and genocide to stain the fabric of human history. The disruption of organic homogenous populations with a balanced economic and ecologic relationship with the geography they co-evolved with is the root of all human conflict and the foundation of all left wing philosophies.
