Romney’s son: He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve ever met
“He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life. He had no desire to … run,” said Tagg, according to the report.
“If he could have found someone else to take his place . . . he would have been ecstatic to step aside,” he continued.” “He is a very private person who loves his family deeply and wants to be with them, but he has deep faith in God and he loves his country, but he doesn’t love the attention.”
According to the report, Romney was shaken by his 2008 failed bid to capture the GOP nomination and was wary of a second run. The former Massachusetts governor initially told family members he would not run again.

I think numerous Palinbots voted for Romney. It’s far too broad a brush to call them stupid, derelict or treasonous. I supported Palin, but I wouldn’t consider myself a Palinbot—I was certainly aware of her flaws.
INC on December 23, 2012 at 2:39 PM
*gasp* Then you’re de facto a Palinbot who worships the Krazy Karibou Barbie Snowbilly Quitter….
ddrintn on December 23, 2012 at 2:40 PM
Unseen–Palinbot extraordinaire–says the Mittbots were played. Really, Mitt’s supporters were played? The comedy writes itself. Your girl quit elective office, then strung you along…and along…and along, and in the end didn’t even run.
The Romney haters, who in almost every case are also Palin worshippers and charter members of the TrueCon purity brigade, are idiots. Nasty, constantly whining idiots, and all the usual suspects are here today to further dump on Romney.
Maybe he ran simply because he thought he could help the country. But, no, the TrueCons have to turn him into the personification of ambition and evil. The guy who helped a dying kid write his will.
What the hell is wrong with you people?
Meredith on December 23, 2012 at 2:43 PM
Noblesse oblige, then?
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on December 23, 2012 at 2:44 PM
That’s me.
I’m proud to be a TrueCon. I was insulted over and over again here by Romney supporters—more than any other Leftist has ever done so! Yet I still voted for Romney.
INC on December 23, 2012 at 2:45 PM
Oh, it does. All you have to do is read the past year’s worth of “MITTMENTUM!!!! MITTSLIDE!!!! THE POLLS ARE LYING!!!!! UNSKEW UNSKEW UNSKEW!!!!” hilarity from you freaks.
ddrintn on December 23, 2012 at 2:47 PM
To say she quit elective office and not go into the reasons gives an entirely false picture. It’s a partial truth that paints a lie.
We never knew why she didn’t run except that she said God first, then family, then country. Those are right priorities. At least one of her daughters had some guy stalking her. I’m sure the Palins received all kinds of horrible threats. Whatever her reasoning, I didn’t feel strung along. She’s showed character in the past, so I through it was reasonable to trust her decision.

You’re clueless…

They all think they’re political geniuses. They’re legends in their own minds. They have to dump on Palin to distract from the fact that Mittenz was hiding in the tall weeds like a coward while the battle over Obamacare was being fought, and that by nominating him, the most unpopular thing Odumbo and the dems have done, the issue which won us huge gains in 2010, was effectively off the table. But he was such an awesome manager that none of that matters, you see. Even though he couldn’t master the most basic elements of a political campaign, like GOTV, buying ads, or hiring competent people (despite having been running for POTUS for at least six years), he’s some sort of managerial prodigy. It was so important to nominate this guy that his flacks started trashing Palin before the ’08 election was even over, and his other flacks like Jen Rubin and Stan Coulter viscously attacked anybody who didn’t get in line behind him during the primary.

i am a palin supporter who never liked romney… and i still voted for him! of course we still get the blame, we palin supporters knew this would happen: we would vote for the supposedly “electable” guy, and if he lost, we would get the blame. no, don’t pin this on us, romney lovers. Yyour guy lost, and you were wrong about him being “electable,” just admit it.

I am so fascinated by this comment. After everything….this is truly amazing to me that people can write with such certitude. Are you that vested in it that you have to deny it? How do you know?!
Can.I.be.in.the.middle on December 23, 2012 at 2:56 PM
what is wrong with us? We unlike the mittbots and other liberal moderate GOp idiots want to win elections. What is wrong with us is we know what wins elections landslide elections and it isn’t Mitt and his perfect hair and liberal talking points. You Mittbots LOST now we find out Mitt played you didn’t want to run, had no fire in the belly and only ran IMO to make sure Obama won and not some filthy conservative like reagan.
Anyone with half a brain cell could have predicted the result of 2012. mitt never had a hope nor a prayer of winning but you idiots allowed a couple polls made by liberals to mold your thinking that Mitt had a chance in hell of winning. Mitt couldn’t even beat a 90 year old senile man in 2008 and you thought he could beat Obama. Delusional doesn’t even begin to describe you.

Walter Sobchak, if you’d pay attention, you’d know that I was against Mitt up to the very last second in the primaries. I agree with all of what you wrote, except the “legend” and “dump on Palin” part.
I don’t dump on Palin. However, if one doesn’t run what do you wish for the rest of the land to do?
The primaries were a disaster and all who brung Obama and their families can go straight to Hades.

Their “girl” wasn’t a rich, well-connected Northeasterner who had millions of dollars to spend defending herself against frivolous lawsuits and hitting back at the filers of said lawsuits, you Mittbot loser.
Walter Sobchak on December 23, 2012 at 3:02 PM
yeap we tried to warn them for 4 years. they thought they were smarted then us “hicks” but it turns out the hicks knew better than the “smart people” Mitt was a terrible candidate the worse candidate the GOp could pick. He brought nothing to the table, nothing. He cost us Senate seats and down ticket races not only in the senate and house but in the states too.
Now we find out he didn’t even want to be POTUS. How much more data points do the smartliberal mittbots need to understand they were used like a $2 crack whores.

However, who was your candidate?

Ladies and gentlemen: the mad, staring eyes and apoplectic face of the typical “UnSkewedPolls.com” fan and/or Karl Rove/Jennifer Rubin/Dick Morris devotee.
Shudder quietly, amongst yourselves, and move along towards the next exhibit.

Especially from you this is a nonanswer.
Of course it matters – the land is bigger than the Mittens or the Palin-folks, alas.
The motherland is lost, sadly.

I meant that they are not as derelict as him, but that after the primary, not having run one of their own, pouting and not voting, letting Obama win, is almost as bad.
You, of all the people, should never have to ask. YOU know me better than 99% here.
Cheers

Well that explains his pathetic last debate against Obama..I think in the future, Republican candidates need to have the desire to be the president and to lead this country back into greatness

Thanks! That makes sense—I became angry with someone who was planning on not voting for Romney, and said something to the effect that no matter what his disagreements, the bottom line was that Romney loved the country and didn’t despise it.
I apologize for getting back to you after a time gap. We just finished a very late lunch–more like a dinner!

Oh, I don’t know; maybe it had something to do with “He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life. He had no desire to … run.”
He’s been running for president since the dawn of time. If this statement were true, he would have dropped out and spared us all after he failed to best McCain.

I’m sure any that any of the named higher incarnations can see through that because here on Earth your BS is plain and clear.
At least have the good sense to own your insults. You insulted him as a Mormon. Denying it only highlights how wrong you know you were in doing so.
Everybody in this thread has admitted to voting for one loser or another, Romney/Palin. You’re the only loser who can’t even be honest about his own words.
I’d tell you to put on your Dulluth man-pants. But you don’t need the extra-room. Looks like you left your sack at home chump.
