NRA president: Let’s not overreact
“Japan is very homogeneous and has a very different culture than we do,” Keene argued. “The fact is that in the last couple of decades, as we’ve relaxed our gun laws, the murder rate has dropped. The relationship is not always what people think it is … According to the FBI statistics in 2010, in this country more people were beaten to death than died as a result of being shot by any long-arm weapons—assault-like weapons or hunting weapons. If you’re dead, you’re dead. Statistics can tell you anything.”
Like LaPierre, Keene warned against imposing quick, simple solutions to solve a problem—i.e., the cause of mass shootings in schools, movie theaters, and other vulnerable public places—that is dizzyingly complex and difficult to define.
“You don’t want to overreact,” Keene said. “This is a country which likes its problems solved right away. Schools get shot up and everybody has their solution, and we often overreact. So you’ve got some people saying, ‘It’s the guns. Get rid of all guns.’ Or, institute a so-called assault weapons ban. Well, there is an assault weapons ban in Connecticut, and the gun that kid used is legal in Connecticut.”

Shut up, thug, if we confiscate guns we can live the good life like they did in the dark ages before firearms.

Nan. The US likes it BIG. If the left gets what it wants then I expect full totalitarian with at least 100 mil dead and thousands upon thousands in relocation/labor camps. You can also kiss any security goodbye as we enter the dark ages of internal terrorism. The US will fall to a major crap hole and fractured states within 5 years of the utopia being formed.

It doesn’t matter whether the gun was legal or not, the gun killed no-one. A nutcase did.

We know an assault weapons ban wouldn’t have kept Adam Lanza from rampaging through Sandy Hook beyond the shadow of a doubt. How do we know this? There was one in place and it didn’t stop him!
gryphon202 on December 23, 2012 at 10:14 AM
SO these people were beat to death via long rifles?
upinak on December 23, 2012 at 10:14 AM
But at least we’ll have a place to sleep, food to eat, and cellphones.
davidk on December 23, 2012 at 10:21 AM
This .
Also the NRA was wrong to try to blame the ‘violent’ media.
Millions of people have played the most graphic of video games or seen the goriest movies and have not harmed a person. As with most crimes the criminals are a very small group. Go after them NOT everyone else.

This is about control of the people…see Andy Cuomo.

Can’t. They are bad and will fight back. They will have to go for the easy pickings. Law abiding people but first they have to turn all those law abiding people into criminals.
I have a very, very liberal aunt. She of course toes the liberal line. Last night I told her that they would like to ban all semi-automatics and or all firearms with detachable magazines. All she could say is “but I have those.” All I could say was yeah.
Of course she has the common liberal hypocrisy in that she owns a firearm for protection and several high powered semi-automatic hunting rifles that belonged to her late husband. She also figures that the ban wouldn’t apply to little old ladies or people that “know” what the real problem is which is conservative white men with guns.

Sleep yeah. Food? Maybe just enough. Cellphones are out. Can’t allow a way for the peasants to communicate.

Roland Martin wants to interview you. He wants to show you the photos, ze damn photos. /s

You are correct.
“You only have power over people so long as you don’t take everything away from them. But when you’ve robbed a man of everything, he’s no longer in your power – he’s free again.”~Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Of course we shouldn’t overreact.
We should respond reasonably, like showing the death photos of the kids to the public as Roland Martin of CNN suggests.
catmman on December 23, 2012 at 10:48 AM
That was not an assault rifle
It was a small bore semi automatic pistol fancied up to look like an assault rifle
The real goal to to grab all the semi auto pistols – over 70 million of them – expensive well maintained guns owned by law abiding Americans who know how to shoot
Good luck on that

LaPierre was right on the money
I’m sure that before she was killed, that poor teacher was praying for someone with a gun to shoot that son of a bitch
As any of us would have been..
TexasJew on December 23, 2012 at 11:22 AM
Just so everyone knows, DiFi has now also put confiscation on the table, in the form of compulsory buybacks.
I don’t think it would pass the house, but just the fact they’re talking about it is needlessly inflammatory. And progs on the lefty sites are still telling us we’re paranoid for thinking they want to take guns.
juliesa on December 23, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Those are the stupid, useful idiot progs who don’t understand who and what the left really is. They’ll find out one day.
