How Boehner’s “critical moment” could turn out okay for him
How? Elving says Boehner has to go back to negotiations with Obama. Then he has to get a deal that would pass with what Elving calls a “half-and-half,” meaning half of the Democrats and half of the Republicans, plus one.
“So that at that point it’s clear to the Senate they’ve got to vote for this or we’re going over the cliff. That could probably clear the Senate — probably,” he says. “And it could get done, theoretically, in time to be approved before the new tax and spending changes everybody’s so afraid of really kick in [come] January.”
Even if Boehner has to get help from Democrats to get a deal, he would be in a better position in the end, Elving says.
“That, I believe, would make enough Republicans feel better than they feel right now. Right now, the way they feel is that they’ve been embarrassed by some of their members, their speaker has been humiliated in public,” he says.

Of course it will turn out OK for him, as it would with anyone with that sort of government sinecure. He’s set for life no matter what happens, even if he gets voted out of office. That’s the beauty of being a member of the ruling class.

Typical establishment “bash the conservatives” rhetoric.
Hey ass wipe … how’s about pulling your lips off Obama’s ass and maybe give a little sugar to the Conservatives … who are …
RIGHT.
That’s the amazing thing – everyone knows these conservative “renegades” are CORRECT that this is a SPENDING crisis – not a revenue crisis. Everyone agrees they are correct …
Yet they bash them openly for not voting to ratify Obama’s wealth redistribution plans.
Only in the GOP – the corrupt and wretched GOP – could this comedy of events take place where the guys actually HOLDING the lines are ridiculed and attacked.
Amazing.

So all Boehner has to do is succeed.
Thanks for that startling insight. Good luck to him.

Is anyone surprised anymore by these articles? After Boehner took a beating over his crappy Plan B, the GOP establihment media apparatchiks are out in full force trying to cover for their own.
Imagine if a truly conservative Speaker had screwed up… think the media woukd cover up for him/her?

He better succeed or it will cost us the House, as any economic weakness can now be blamed on us (after four years of blaming Bush!).
Even the far-right bitter clingers have to come back from their fantasy world to see that a compromise here would be the best for us.

Easy. There are no where near enough people who are informed about the situation, and even less who give a damn.

Look – it’s pretty clear that Boehner’s lost all credibility with his own caucus – and it’s HIS own fault …
He’s the guy who stood up at CPAC in February of 2011 and said these words …
“Write that down” ??? Isn’t that another version of “Read My Lips”?
Well – the very next week – Boehner, who said “We’re gonna kick their asses on this!” passed a bill in the house that only cut $60 Billion. However, before the ink was even dry on that he was dialing up Obama to “parlay” that $60 Billion down to $30 Billion in cuts. When all was said and done …
Only around $500 MILLION was cut from that budget.
WRITE THAT DOWN!!
Oh – but … the establishment said … “Ah, the real fight is going to be over the debt ceiling! We needed to cave on the cuts to fight Obama on raising the debt ceiling!”
What happened? Boehner told his caucus that they WOULDN’T SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT – but would cut a deal. So Allen West and all the others saluted smartly like good soldiers and followed their clown leader into misery.
Guy hasn’t made a single good decision since he became speaker – it’s time to pull this guy off the mound before he’s made the game un-salvageable.
But that’s the GOP for ya. They keep the losing players in the game – ALWAYS. No, I’m wrong … they PROMOTE the losers.
It’s called “Fu%K Up – Move up!” and it’s a tired game already.
Fire this guy.

“Now’s not the time to make a stand people! Actually..it’s never really… a good time to make a stand, so don’t you uh..”conseeeeervatives” get any wacky ideas. Ya hear?!”

I, for one, really enjoy being called a right wing extremist because I understand math. I don’t try to fool math, or cheat math, or pretend math doesn’t exist.

So, the game is to form a 50/50 coalition of reps and dems. Guess it is now official, they are one party. How anyone can vote for either is beyond me.
