House Republicans circulate plan to oust Boehner as Speaker
Those members and staffers requested anonymity from Breitbart News at this time to prevent retaliation from Boehner similar to what happened to those four members who were purged from their powerful committee assignments a few weeks ago. Their expressed concern is that if Boehner knew who they were, his adverse reaction toward them would be much more brutal than losing committee assignments, such as a primary challenge in 2014 by a leadership-sponsored candidate.
The circulated plan is a comprehensive multi-step process.
According to the plan as drafted, the first step is to re-establish the election of the Speaker of the House by secret ballot, rather than by a public roll call vote. That’s because the members who would oppose Boehner, if there ended up not being enough votes to achieve their desired result or if Boehner scared via threat or coaxed via prize some of the opposition into voting for him, would be sitting ducks for retaliation in the near future.
As one hill staffer considering this path told Breitbart News, the members involved in an unsuccessful coup d’etat would be “toast.”

Perhaps there is a silver lining here, the msm and Dems have been so intractable that they may have created everything they feared.

Congress leaks like a sieve. How can they circulate this “multi-step” plan without someone figuring out who the sources are?

More like “coup d’etard” in Boner’s case.
While I understand the point of these Congressmen, Boner needs to be publicly rebuked and humiliatingly tossed into the street. What this inept POS has done to the GOP and to America in these most crucial of times, when we have the most dangerous of America’s enemies actually running the Executive branch and cowards demuring from stopping the dog-eating sh!tbrain in all the other branches, we had to have a strong Speaker in the last defense of this, now-dead, nation. Boner was the worst person to have on our last line. He is junk. He shoudl have been tossed by March of 2011 when it was clear what a total disaster he was.

They’re gonna’ make him cry…again. I don’t live in his state, but close enough to work against his re-election and I’ve sent him a few missives advising him of same.

Shades of the Scarborough Cabal‘s House Coup, 1998. And Speaker Boehner is no Newt Gingrich.

Boehner/Cantor/McCarthy tried to act like Pelosi does with her caucus (or Tom DeLay did during his “Hammer” days.)
It didn’t work because the conservatives know that they gave Boehner the gavel. Without the seats the GOP/Tea Party took in 2010, Boehner wouldn’t be Speaker. And they all know it, including Boehner and his minions.
He should have at least withheld the ouster of conservatives until after the Plan B vote. But he thought he should whip them into line ahead of time.
Now he needs party unity without looking as if he caved to the conservatives the way he caved to tax hikes. Good like with that.
Wethal on December 22, 2012 at 8:29 AM
The people leading this don’t have any idea. If you read the actual article which I tried to copy the intended paragraphs here but it wouldn’t let me on my phone. It says they don’t have anyone in mind at all. They are relying on Boehner’s not winning a majority in the first vote, and of that happens, some viable alternative that will unite the caucas will magically arise in the second round.

This could backfire in so many ways. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Does anyone else see the hypocrisy involved here from the clowns who rightly oppose card check? If I were the labor unions, I’d be running ads mocking GOP members of the House for stand for secret ballots in union elections, but don’t require them in their own elections.
BuckeyeSam on December 22, 2012 at 8:42 AM
the speaker doesn’t have to be a congressman but I doubt they would go outside the house. If the SPeaker is ousted than all his top Lt.s must also be ousted which leaves the back benchers simply br definition. But remember before 2010 not many people knew the prsent speaker either. So from our POV he/she would most likely be a “noname” type of congresscritter who has earned the respect of his peers.

why? like things could get much worse. Hell The speaker did more for Obama than Pelosi has done when she was speaker. Obama has gotten every last thing he wanted. Every last thing.

… and this, mind you, is the petty, weepy little congressional martinet whom position and privilege a small, blustering contingent hereabouts are so splutteringly desperate to save, by any means necessary.
Those hopping up and down like hyper-caffeinated howler monkeys in huffy outrage over the purported indignities being heaped upon the Republican party’s impotent House Oompah-Loompah would be the first ones to yowl should (oh, say) “Stretch” Pelosi utilize the very same methods, on her noxious side of the legislative aisle. ‘Nuff said.

On Dec. 30 or 31 Obama will either put forth an executive order or get the IRS by other means not to change the withholding tax for those earning 250K or less.

It’s not just “unlikely” they’ll go outside the house, it’s never freaking happened before, ever. So I wouldn’t advise holding your breathe for Palin or West or anyone like that.
Secondly, I don’t find your further optimism that throwing all your eggs irrevocably in one basket with this plan, where it will come that you HAVE to back whatever “no name backbencher” you MIGHT be able to erect or else marginalize yourselves further with an embarrassing backfire. That that’s somehow gonna pan out to something good for the conservative movement.
You have no idea who the person you will have to back will be. You have no proposing names. These ARE long odds here for some form of viable success, you can see that right?

Lieutenant Colonel Allen Bernard West
I don’t care if nothing gets done. I want someone to “bring it” to rat ears. Stop him at every turn. Blister him with investigations and hearings. Keep him so busy fighting off impeachment he has no time to work his lib mischief.
And if he finally waves the white flag and offers compromise?
Boot to the teeth.
Then take the gloves off.

‘election of Speaker by secret ballot’. What is this, the Congressional Republican Union? What hypocrisy. ‘scared via threat or coaxed’? Have they joined the Wimps R us or something? If the wimps wanna take him down, do it openly. And boldly face the consequences if they fail. Stop behaving like the dems.

The fact of the matter is the present SPeaker is a failure. SO you choice is stay with a failure or take a chance on someone else. Most people chose to stay with a failure in Nov and relected Obama how’s that working out? Personally I think it won’t change until you get a non DC type as speaker. But I would settle for a man of principle in the place of the spineless worm known as Cryin John.
If you keep John as SPeaker 2014 will be a bloodbath on the GOP in the house. 2012 was a warning to the house GOP. Either move to the right or be replaced.

If a group of House Republicans wants to get rid of Boehner, fine with me. But have the stones to put your own ass on the line and do it publicly. Even Boehner for all his faults(and there are far too many to list) was willing to push Plan B before knowing he had the votes for it. Foolish, but it took some guts.

At Daily Caller, Laura Ingraham is reporting that her sources say Paul Ryan is favored to replace Boehner.
BTW, Daily Caller appears to have been recently hacked. I just went there and it made my anti-virus go five bells. Earlier this morning there was no problem.

Boehner, and many repubs don’t get it. They can’t seem to understand why they keep ending up on the sheety end of the stick.
Here’s a hint. The rules have changed. They play as dirty as any union thug. They’ll lie, cheat intimidate, whatever needs to be done. The repubs are still playing the “I’ll trust you” game, and the “O.K…I’ll compromise first and be the grown up in this…now it’s your turn.”
The country means nothing to them. They see everything as they are right…everyone else is wrong. Not much difference between them and a cult or a religious fundamentalist or a terrorist cell, or a mob family.
If they haven’t figured this out yet, there is little hope. STOP.TRUSTING.THEM.
90% of them are Charlie Browns.
