Maybe because Obama was elected and re-elected.

Many Americans know Socialism/Fascism/Communism doesn’t produce very good results, no matter how “smart” the person is that is trying to “make it work THIS time.”

And that the first step is to disarm the populace. And we’re a populace, at least in the red spaces, that don’t take kindly to even the threat of being disarmed.
