Another way of verbalizing the 2nd amendment..
HotAirian on December 21, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Right on.
Slainte on December 21, 2012 at 11:45 AM
Don’t need police really, just armed security guards and teachers willing to take the armed security guard training.
Rebar on December 21, 2012 at 11:46 AM
Idiotic. Allow it, don’t mandate it.

Liberals en masse immediately call for the death of LaPierre and confiscation of all guns, salt, sugar and gasoline.

And waste more tax dollars? Not worth it.

I wonder if the the Adult Victims of the Newtown School massacre were asked 30 seconds after hearing the gun shots start, if they had a choice between a hand gun, or a stricter Gun law which they would choose.
portlandon on December 21, 2012 at 11:50 AM
Our schools have had armed police for some years now.

Only if they are not allowed to unionize.
astonerii on December 21, 2012 at 11:53 AM
Better story is the Media collectively wetting themselves in anger because Wayne did not grant them the great honor of allowing them to ask questions. I love how the Media gets all pissy when America doesn’t treat them like they are some kind of gods. They really are all hacks anymore.
reddevil on December 21, 2012 at 11:54 AM
We already have police officers in schools here in Utah. Google Utah school shootings and see what comes up. They are effective deterrents to anyone thinking about doing something bad at a school.
rsherwd65 on December 21, 2012 at 11:54 AM
I always heard rumors about narcs running around in high schools.
Red Creek on December 21, 2012 at 11:55 AM
Watched this presser live on Fox. That moronic cretin Medea Benjamin showed up ranting and raving in her usual lunatic fashion and disrupting the proceedings until they hustled her out.
Trafalgar on December 21, 2012 at 11:55 AM
Good point, but the rest of the conference was hilariously awful. The NRA needs a new spokesperson, I nominate zombie Heston.
Blaming 20 year old Sega CD games, and a flash game that got pulled as soon as it was released. Seriously who wrote that stuff for him?

They let her out of her crypt for events like this and Republican presidencies.

I LOVE that quote…..this one too….

Our HS has a police officer and the lower grades also have an officer but this officer travels between the schools.
Basic stuff like a lock/buzz system should be standard.
AND allow any teacher that is permitted to conceal or carry to bring on the property. Either keep it in their car or install a lock box in the classroom of any teacher that is properly permitted to have a gun.
No reason to require but bending the gun free zone allowing “good guys” to have should be allowed.
Rich on December 21, 2012 at 11:59 AM
@Rebar: There are security guards and there are security guards. I haven’t forgotten the one I had to edge by very carefully on a crowded street as he engaged in animated conversation – wildly waving his gun around as he gesticulated.
Seth Halpern on December 21, 2012 at 11:59 AM
No, no, no, guns are the problem, how can we even consider allowing an armed cop into a gun-free zone?

Listened to most of it, not horrible. I like most except for the idea of more money to public schools for some government employee.

Bureau of Fast & Furious raids the gun shop where Nancy Lanza legally purchased her guns, apparently because it was a crime victim.
Akzed on December 21, 2012 at 12:01 PM
It would also be nice if they could find one that weighs less than 400 pounds. That seems to be an issue in my neck of the woods.

Bad guy…..”You bring gold?”
John Wayne….”nope”
Bad guys…..”ahhhh, you bring silver?”
John Wayne…..”Nope, just lead.”

Exactly, Like the Sky Marshals program.
Libtards are going to foam at the mouth over this one.
Bulletchaser on December 21, 2012 at 12:04 PM
Actually I thought it was quite brilliant.
I loved the Alinsky tactic-Rule #4: Making the enemy(Hollywood and The MSM) live up to its on rules.
redridinghood on December 21, 2012 at 12:06 PM
Good move. When the left inevitably says there is no money for this we can offer a compromise in the form of allowing teachers with concealled carry bring their guns to work to save the school’s budget.
Browncoatone on December 21, 2012 at 12:07 PM

redridinghood on December 21, 2012 at 12:07 PM
I am against spending most of what our govt spends. However, I am not against police protection, fire protection, etc. That’s what taxes are for.
This is not a waste of tax payer dollars. This is the kind of protection I welcome my tax dollars being spent on. This is now a necessary expense.
JustTruth101 on December 21, 2012 at 12:07 PM
If you’re gonna have just one, then he better be undercover and concealed or he’s catching the first bullet and then it’s clear sailing. It’s better to have several teachers carrying concealed. Don’t they have guns with a keypad that you can just type in 3 digits and it arms? Then you wouldn’t have to worry about some punk taking the gun from the teacher.
Buddahpundit on December 21, 2012 at 12:07 PM
This.
petefrt on December 21, 2012 at 12:07 PM
I went to check the Huffers’ reaction. No surprise-it’s raw primitive emotion. The main line of “thinking” there is “OMG, what’s next? Armed people at every mall, theater, church, etc?”
Well yeah. Are there any malls that DON’T have armed security now? Even Walmart and my grocery store have security. Just a few days ago in my city and armed security woman stopped Aurora-the Sequel by shooting a guy who was shooting up a movie theater.
These people are not capable of reason.
juliesa on December 21, 2012 at 12:11 PM
How does taking away someone’s right of self defense protect them?
Galt2009 on December 21, 2012 at 12:11 PM
No, when they say there’s no money, we very publicly accuse them of stinginess and ask why they hate children.
CurtZHP on December 21, 2012 at 12:13 PM
The school had it but Lanza just kicked/shot in the glass of the door. That’s another problem easily fixed.
Blake on December 21, 2012 at 12:14 PM
We need to have Chicago’s own Karen Lewis weigh in on this issue. My guess is Jabba the Union Boss won’t object so long as the police officers are unionized, paying dues, contributing to Democrats, and not making more money than her unionized teachers.
JimLennon on December 21, 2012 at 12:15 PM
The same way obammycare causing healthcare costs to skyrocket makes it more affordable. lol!
Blake on December 21, 2012 at 12:18 PM
True, but my sense is that he was just trying to shame the media for not investigating their own role in society.
A better point he made was the way the media makes each shooter into the World’s Most Famous Person. It’s probable that this really does encourage copycats, and it’s true that some freak right now is planning another one.
juliesa on December 21, 2012 at 12:18 PM
Well, yeah, that too. Remember the key to a successful political maneuver is to attack it from multiple fronts at the same time. The left does it all the time. You demand the government magically provide money it doesn’t have to protect the children while team 2 hammers them about wanting children defenseless against mass murders while team 3 insists all teachers be required to carry weapons at the same time that team 4 suggests a great compromise: allow teachers to legally carry their personal firearms onto the school grounds.
Browncoatone on December 21, 2012 at 12:19 PM
Yep.
Pork-Chop on December 21, 2012 at 12:20 PM
LOL!
Yes, I can’t really “Think” that way….
Galt2009 on December 21, 2012 at 12:22 PM
The Sandy Point school had one. Lanza went in through a window, iirc.
“Personalized digital safeties” don’t work very well. If the person carrying a weapon can’t keep it out of the hands of a student, then they really shouldn’t be carrying.
GWB on December 21, 2012 at 12:23 PM
Perfectly stated and undeniably true.
RedNewEnglander on December 21, 2012 at 12:24 PM
THIS !!!
This exact same thought has been keeping me awake at night this past week.
My district took some pretty typical, temporary steps to beef up security at all it’s buildings. Mainly added folks to patrol all doors ( which are now locked).
The explicit reason for this added security was concern over a copycat.
Where is our society when we actually have to worry about someone repeating such an atrocity. If one is only worrying about guns they will NEVER see the next one coming.
Jabberwock on December 21, 2012 at 12:28 PM
I wonder what they would choose between carrying their own gun and having an armed police officer somewhere in the school.
Daemonocracy on December 21, 2012 at 12:29 PM
Was there much opposition to Boxer’s suggestion that National Guardsmen be placed in all schools..?
d1carter on December 21, 2012 at 12:29 PM
Leave the responsibility on someone else. It is how they frequently are these days.
astonerii on December 21, 2012 at 12:30 PM
I think having police in every school is total waste of money. There are 10′s of thousands of schools, and the incidence rate of these horrendous crimes is very very low. I would be more likely to support training the principal, and volunteer teachers to have fire arm training. And have fire arms at the ready with bio-metric security safes.
Dasher on December 21, 2012 at 12:34 PM
Genius.
Because poor rural counties have lots of officers to spare right?
Liberal: Well they can hire some more!!
Realist: With what, exactly?
