Leave Newtown alone, culture warriors
For example, the unions’ newest patron saint, education writer Diane Ravitch, wrote a post titled “The Hero Teachers of Newtown.” Just three days after the shooting, Ravitch described the teachers’ bravery not in individual terms, but by linking it to their union membership. The implication was clear: nonunion teachers would not have acted the same way. And if that weren’t enough, she used the dead to rant against teacher evaluations, tenure, and student testing. She also criticized Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy for supporting charter schools, saying, “Let us hope Governor Malloy learned something these past few days about the role of public schools in their communities. Newtown does not need a charter school. What it needs now is healing.” What a creative way to champion healing: divisive and ugly rhetoric.
Ravitch’s comments were criticized by David Rosenberg, a senior member of Teach for America, the nonprofit that recruits high-performing college graduates to work in low-income school districts for two years. Immediately coming to Ravitch’s defense was Karen Lewis, president of the Chicago Teachers Union. Lewis said this:
Rosenberg’s “false outrage” needs to be checked. That same false outrage should show itself when policies his colleagues support kill and disenfranchise children from schools across this nation. We in Chicago have been the victims of their experiments on our children since the current secretary of education “ran” [Chicago Public Schools].

The Newtown teachers were heroes, but only because they loved their students.

They loved their students more than you losers love your guns.
lostmotherland on December 21, 2012 at 9:37 PM
You can’t love both? By the way, at the moment I don’t own a gun. But that will change shortly.
ddrintn on December 21, 2012 at 9:40 PM
You might be on to something, Libtard.
Because I surely don’t love my guns as much as you love living your life with your head stuck up Dear Leaders arse.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA………Are you a tool 24/7 or just when you post here?

I’ve always liked Karen Lewis. Her heart is in the right place.

They didn’t love their students more than I love my own daughter, my God-daughter, and any friends and family that I have. That’s why when we go anywhere in public, I’m carrying my concealed weapon. We refuse to be victims, at the mercy of whack-jobs like you. GFY.

Using dead teachers and children is crass bovine waste products. We know this, but looking at the last election it’s easy to see that;
1) such ugly, low ball, tactics – no matter how false or outrageous – work. And
2) taking the high road =’s them winning. You can’t beat free pie and “he said he hates you!”, especially if you don’t punch back.
If we don’t get down in the muck and fight every dam time, trench knife to trench knife, these b@$Iard$ will win. These scumbag fanatics will scream every lie, use every dead child to win. If we don’t go Mad Max on their arse they will win. Don’t try to counter them with facts. They and the paste eating mouth breathers that vote for them are impervious to facts.
We must go after them the way they go after us. No counter attack goes to far. Never let up, never, ever, ever. Emote, even if doesn’t make sense. Especially when it doesn’t make sense. Call them every ugly name in the book.

Let’s not feed the trolls on this one. .Considering how restrictive Hot Air is in registration… how do all these trolls pop up.
Illinidiva on December 21, 2012 at 9:56 PM
Of course. But your progression is way off.

How is Lostmotherland not banned yet? All he does is blatantly troll and incite. He comments on here with only one, positive comment posted and he immediately attacks everyone on here by calling them names and acts like a typical spoiled brat? He brings nothing to the table and I’m sure that more than a few people are just as tempted as I am to curse him out yet we expect we’d get the ban hammer for doing so. Where are the standards for posting comments?

Why would one want to do that? The entertainment value of his/her comments are priceless. And, of those like him/her.
I don’t think living in a bubble is healthy. I think it’s important to see the thought processes of those that are lost and learn from them.
