In case it wasn’t clear, I wasn’t being serious.

After his three terms in the House, he ran successfully for governor twice and was eyeing a 2012 presidential bid before he notoriously embarked on an extramarital affair that derailed his national ambitions. He is now engaged to his Argentine fiancee.

The embarrassment gene is weak in this one. Isn’t there some other line of work that would suit him? Like giving walking tours along the Appalachian trail?

Anyway, Sanford was known as a serious leader for fiscal conservatism when he was in the House.

Given the assortment of left-wing cranks, wife beaters, kleptos, and nincompoops the Dems have as a part of their House caucus, Sanford would actually raise the integrity level of the place.
