A new high: 41% think children born to illegals on U.S. soil should be citizens
More voters than ever think that if a woman comes to the United States illegally and gives birth to a child here, that child should be a U.S. citizen. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 41% of Likely U.S. Voters share that view, up from September’s previous high of 37%. But 51% still disagree and do not think the child in that situation should be granted citizenship.

We are screwed. The only saving grace is this country is about to be turned into a third world hellhole much worse than Mexico. I only hope they provide us with the same open arms and benefits when we go there as undocumented.

Well that’s a relief. At least some folks know their constitution.
What do you think little dante?
cozmo on December 19, 2012 at 3:45 PM
Yeah and 100% of illegal aliens believe their kids should be U.S. citizens. It’s already the law, like these guys in Washington would ever change it.

Obviously Colorado residents were oversampeled.
LincolntheHun on December 19, 2012 at 3:48 PM
Why not.
Note that I am not asking a question here. This only reinforces my belief in Let It Burn.
BigGator5 on December 19, 2012 at 3:49 PM
and yet our brilliant leaders still are saying our only hope is to cave and grant amnesty to another 10 million Dem voters?
No dice

This is what happens when you let liberals control the media and narrative. Eventually people get tired of being pounded by the “bigot/racist” hammer so they just give up their beliefs. Same thing is happening with gay marriage.

Still not a majority.
Sekhmet on December 19, 2012 at 3:51 PM
So almost 60% don’t.
Did any of the questions asked include the purposeful planning to deliver on American soil and getting here by any means possible?
Mimzey on December 19, 2012 at 3:53 PM
What do you plan to do when it does burn?
clippermiami on December 19, 2012 at 3:54 PM
Our house DOES not think or want kids born two inches over our border(S or N) by illegal aliens to be citizens! Never did and still don’t! It isn’t just the kids that get all the goodies, but mom, dad, and everyone else in the family!
Boy oh boy this is very depressing! If we didn’t have enough problems dealing with legal citizens sucking off the taxpayers now this? Good by USA!

41% ? It’s the “Law of the Land”.
Even have a name – Anchor Babies.
Believe it also counts if born ON an American Flagged Airline.
Jabberwock on December 19, 2012 at 4:05 PM
But how many would support this if they were aware that it would cost them and their children in benefits?
Punchenko on December 19, 2012 at 4:11 PM
This, with a cigar.

Gotta ask, IS there any country on planet earth that would do/allow this but the US? Sure the heck isn’t mexico, they are not near as sweet about this as the US is! And they love it we are allowing their citizens to get away with this! And to boot, we send billions to help mexico out with ‘their’ problems. WE get in coming and going, fun times are here, aren’t they? NO, NO!

The very author of the citizenship clause expressly said:
His colleague from Pennsylvania confirmed the understanding that merely being born on American soil did NOT make one an American citizen when he stated on the floor of the United States Senate:
It wasn’t until 1982, that children of illegals or legal immigrants were subject to the jurisdiction of another country even began to be considered Americans by birth. In Phyler v Doe, 457 U.S. 202 (1982), a case where the Court held that there is no right to public education, but if a state offers it, it must be made available to all children whether citizen or alien, legal or illegal. In a footnote to his 5-4 opinion, Justice Brennan asserted that:
It was a FOOTNOTE in a Supreme Court decision in 1982 that established the so-called “anchor baby rule.”

Yeah, we are going under. The speed will pick up greatly in the coming years. There will be Blue America and Red America. Two countries.
Oil Can on December 19, 2012 at 5:06 PM
I am one of the others that then NO children of illegals should be born on US soil.
rgranger on December 19, 2012 at 5:15 PM
You know what, that would fix the 9,000 killed by illegals each year (murders and DUI) , now they would be killed by Americans.
rgranger on December 19, 2012 at 5:18 PM
It’s the law.
It’s also the law that the parents should be subject to deportation.
Rough to break up a family like that, but no-one is stopping the parents from taking the kids home.

It’s not just Mexican women, you know.
Not by a long shot.
