The world’s third largest “faith”: Unaffiliateds
Overall, 84 per cent of the world’s inhabitants, which it estimated at 6.9 billion, identify with a religion, according to the study entitled ‘The Global Religious Landscape’ issued by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life on Tuesday.
The ‘unaffiliated’ category covers all those who profess no religion, from atheists and agnostics to people with spiritual beliefs but no link to any established faith.
‘Many of the religiously unaffiliated do hold religious or spiritual beliefs,’ the study stressed.

Maybe they can all join forces, start tithing, and build hospitals, orphanages, half-way houses, soup kitchens, etc. like those who are affiliated do.

When more than 32% of “unaffiliated” Americans are atheist/agnostic, we’ll all buy a van and travel the country solving mysteries with our wonder dog, Scooby.

That is what happens when 20% of the planet have that state as their “God” and all belongs to the state and all will return to the state. Also the state sets the religion you can belong to and no other religion is allowed under threat of jail or death. Works for Islamic and Communism states.

This is one of the end results of a culture where every mouthbreather can crown themselves worthy to construct their own morality, in a manner not unlike a child rummaging through a bucket of LEGOs.
People don’t affiliate with any specific religion because they like their ‘custom-made’ one, and/or because what they’ve ended up with wouldn’t be accepted by an established faith precisely because their beliefs are a “Frankenstein”.
And then of course there’s the old-but-returning trend of people who are just too smart to need faith.

You have it wrong Melon, I’m too smart for religion. Not faith.

You’re ‘too smart’ for anything that isn’t parroted liberal garbage, slaveryordie.

Rabbi Hillel’s famous saying – not original to him – is the best religion in the opinion of someone like me, who deny all the gods:
The Christian writer “James” was onto something too (though I can’t endorse the whole verse):
These are principles of behavior that are pure. But if you can find me a system of theology that isn’t “Frankenstein” in character, I’d be very surprised indeed.
