Report: Boehner moving to Plan B on fiscal cliff
House Republicans, discouraged by the pace of negotiations with the White House, will move their own bill that would hike tax rates on income above $1 million, according to several sources familiar with the plans.
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told President Barack Obama of his plan last night on a phone call, according to sources…
Boehner isn’t pulling out of negotiations with the White House to strike a massive $2 trillion agreement, but leadership sources say they hope this move prods the administration to move toward them.
As of Monday evening, both sides seemed close to an agreement.

My wallet just ran screaming through the house, I tried to catch it but wow, is that little guy hysterical.

Plan B is Plan A sans lube.

Great the firewall we thought we had with Republicans in the house is officially burnt down…fantastic.
We are screwed…next up gun control.

Instead of voting on Boehner’s “deal” with Obama, maybe House Republicans should vote for a new Speaker.

I live “right across the river” from his district, so I can’t vote for/against him, but I will do everything in my power to work against his re-election.
And I don’t make anything near the “benchmark” limits on tax increases.

Interesting tactic. So the idea is to force Obama to accept budget cuts by showing Republicans are willing to pass their own bill and dare the Democrats to vote against it. Which would undercut Obama’s plan to go over the cliff, blame Republicans, and play the hero by passing his own “middle class” tax cut.
We’ll see what the bill looks like — then we’ll know whether the GOP is really serious about cutting spending, or if this is all for show by a bunch of RINOs.

I knew him and Obama were getting freaky, and now he’s worried he won’t get his period in a few weeks. Plan B to the rescue.

Boehner is pissing away his House majority, whether he realizes it or not.
At this point, I plan to stay home in 2014. Washington screws the country no matter how I vote or who is in control, so why should I waste precious gas money going to the polls?
And it’s not bad enough Obama, Dems, and Republicans in DC work overtime to screw over working Americans, but they are ruining our kids’ futures, as well.
It’s time for a revolution.

Is he depending on Reid not bringing it to the floor, or the Dems voting it down in the Senate?
If that would happen the congressional GOP would have some (small) talking points: they taxed the “rich” (defined as millionaires), and saved the middle class tax cuts, but Obama and the Dems sent the US over the cliff.
Risky business.

At least when the economy collapses we will all be disarmed.

This whole mess was the GOP again being conned into kicking the can down the road with the idea “we can fix it later.”
No doubt the rationale the last time was “we can fix this when we take the Senate and WH in 2012, so there’s no risk now.”

Man. I wonder why that GOP-controlled Congress was never more popular than it is?

Sandra Fluke loves Plan B. As long as someone else pays for it.

As someone over at NRO said, “Thank you GHWBush. Tom DeLay, Dennis Hastert, Trent Lott, Bill Frist, Mitch McConnell, GWBush and John Boehner.”

So I guess they think if they make most of us safe from tax raises we will say screw ‘em to the rest of the tax payers who have their rates hiked. The-what’s-in-it-for-me-Right-Now plan. No need to worry about the future. Lovely.

Amen.
TheRightMan on December 18, 2012 at 11:24 AM
Yep.
What I find most annoying is the eagerness by Boehner to be the one proposing the tax hike. He is having his GHW Bush moment but doesn’t seem to realize it.
