Report: Obama to push assault weapons ban next year
Press secretary Jay Carney said the president would back Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) when she introduces legislation at the opening of the next Congress to ban certain assault weapons in the United States.
Carney said the president would also support other gun-control efforts, including legislation to close the “gun show loophole” on background checks and prevent the sale of high-capacity ammunition clips.
The president has reached out to lawmakers who have expressed a new willingness to consider gun restrictions in the wake of Friday’s mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., that claimed the lives of 27 people, including 20 children. Carney said Obama has been “heartened” by the willingness to consider such measures from Democrats who have been strong supporters of gun rights.

If gunowners voted their guns, they wouldn’t just have defeated 0bama, there wouldn’t be a democrat in office anywhere in the country.
The sad truth is, the vast majority of Americans will line up to hand their guns in, all the chest thumping to the contrary.
People who won’t vote their guns won’t fight for their guns.
Rebar on December 18, 2012 at 4:28 PM
This ridiculous irrational reaction the leftards are having on gun control will be a windfall for us
This is going to be Obamacare 2.0, watch
This next 1-2 years is about the only time Obama will have to produce any meaningful legislation for his legacy
He’s going to hold his finger to the win and think he can get a big win on gun control now and be a hero to his base
Guess what? He’s going to get bogged down in a war he can’t win and waste another year, instead of passing meaningful immigration reform or any other part of his lefty wish list
Gun control will motivate out base and libertarian leaning types big time for 2014 and beyond
Gun control could be a big hill for the Libs to die on for the next 4 years– they’re picking a fight they can’t win here
The silent “Chick Fil A” majority will come out in force if they go down this slippery slope
We had Obamacare and the bailouts and stimulus for 2010
Gun control will be the rallying cry we needed for another big win in 2014 now

You’re obviously too stupid to realize that the only reason “you” won that election last month was because the Dear Leader of your Party had to set a new alltime American record with Idiot Votes.
In 2008, he set a (for the time) American record with 70% of the high school dropout vote, but this time, he got:
82% in PA
80% in CA
73% in NV
All Blue States.
In other words, the only reason your Party remains in political power is by keeping its members hopelessly ignorant about reality.
And you are a perfect example of that.

The left has no problem at all cashing in on a tragedy like this, and yet they want to demonize, tax, and punish American job creators if they dare to make more than $250,000 a year.
Pieces of garbage, they are.

I’m one of the wackos that think he stole it via voter fraud. Come on, 100% of the vote in some Philly polling stations. Machines automatically voting for BO. Okay, maybe he really won fair and square but I do think there was a lot more fraud than we suspect.
Frank Enstine on December 18, 2012 at 4:59 PM
Actually a large part of the problem was that the idiot Republican voters who stayed home in 2008 because “they didn’t like” the candidate, or “wanted to teach the Republican Party a lesson”, greatly increased their stay at home numbers this year.

I truly don’t understand why, with with so many countries to choose from that are exactly as they want, liberals stay here? There are so many countries to go to if you want universal healthcare and crazy social programs in exchange for high taxes and a ban on guns, etc. Why can’t we keep one last bastion of freedom and capitalism for those of us left in this world who like it this way?
hollygolightly on December 18, 2012 at 5:22 PM
Because, dear Holly, liberals are, at their very core, control freaks. They are not content to simply live and let live. If they don’t like something, they are not satisfied to avoid it. No, they must make sure no one else can have it either. If they live in an oppressive nanny state, they want to make sure everyone else does too. For you to be left to your own devices to make your own choices about your own life is anathema to them.

Oh come on, you know Obama voters are pretty ignorant on average. His approval wouldn’t be as high as it is if people fully understood his awful first term record.
Chuck Schick on December 18, 2012 at 5:33 PM
Because they are petty, pathetic, resentful, envious, jealous people
They can’t stand to see others happier, more successful, more respected, more free than them
It explains a lot. Start from a mindset of jealousy and hate and envy, and you can then explain all their asinine philosophy from there

Let’s take a look:
His economic record is absolutely abysmal – record poverty and long-term unemployment, declining real wages and household wealth, lowest median income in 20 years, record minority unemployment, millions dropped out of the labor force.
The worst recovery since the Great Depression despite massive debt-fueled expansion of government.
Stimulus was a failure, certainly in the eyes of the public.
Trillion dollar deficits in perpetuity and public debt above 100% for the first time since WW2. It was below 40% under Bush.
America hates ObamaCare and 2/3 states have now solidly rejected its implementation, 1/4 of which have Democrat governors.
Zero notable foreign policy successes and the middle east is crumbling.
Iran will go nuclear under Obama’s watch.
We’re putting 20k troops back into Iraq.
Obama’s lost triple the American lives in Afghanistan Bush did in less than half the time.
Honestly – help me out here.

I was on the site earlier today and couldn’t figure what the hell was going on. They only have the rest of the junk on there, now. They didn’t make any mention of why their page had changed or anything. So I went to their forum and had to hunt around a bit until I found a thread that addressed this.
I guess they posted a notice on their FarceBook account or something, but I don’t do FarceBook so I really don’t know. Anyway, all they have now is ammo and gear and accessories.
They’re still selling 15 rd mags … for the moment. Give them another day to drop those, I guess.

Don’t confuse the unit with Facts. It is not designed to respond in that area.
When Democrat Bill Clinton left office, 2 national polls found that 70% of Americans said his pResidency would only be remembered for one thing. The Blue Dress.
Of course, that was before it became known that he had left his successor not only a recession, but the 9/11 attacks…

Now, once again. Please name Dear Leader’s first term “accomplishments”.
Del Dolemonte on December 18, 2012 at 6:01 PM
You won’t be saying that in five years.
People can only avoid reality for so long. It must be a constant battle for you. You know, like on one hand you want guns banned because of a nut who stole guns yet you smile at the thought of hundreds of thousands of babies butchered each year.
It’ll all catch up to you.

Totally screwing up the gulf oil spill (going out of his way to not allow states to do any mitigation or containment, dragging it all on – and that’s after the coast guard HAD to put the fire out that collapsed the platform and caused the whole thing)
Extorted $20 bil from BP in the OVAL OFFICE, when BP only had $70 million of legal liability.
Ignored the Nashville flood and Mid-west flood. Made pretend that nothing happened.
Gave up the doctor who allegedly provided info on bin laden (that doctor is now being tortured in a paki jail)
Leaked all sorts of secrets when he thought it politically advantageous. Too many instances to list.
Fired AGs who were investigating the criminality of his administration.
Declared the Senate Out-Of-Session and just made recess appointments as if he was King Emperor.
Lied about pretty much everything he uttered. Far too numerous. Pick a day, find five transparent lies – such as when he lied about Benghazi using coffins of dead as his human shields, the friggin despicable ghoul.
I could go on forever with this stuff. We haven’t even scratched the surface of Barky’s stupid, inept, criminal actions.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on December 18, 2012 at 6:04 PM
Pew proves that it is a statement in fact to say Obama was elected by dumb people. Obama’s economic record seems to debunk your broken clock theory. To wit, poor people tend to be poor because they make series of dumb decisions.
The Count on December 18, 2012 at 6:05 PM
Will you have the huevos to be with them?
I certainly hope so.
cozmo on December 18, 2012 at 6:05 PM
Did you say that when Bush was re-elected by almost exactly the same margin? Of course not. You were almost certainly telling everyone that America is filled with morons.
Chuck Schick on December 18, 2012 at 6:05 PM
Nope, just stating facts again. bin Laden himself admitted in an interview right after the attacks that they were supposed to happen on Clinton’s watch. Only reason the attacks were delayed until after he left office? Mohammed Atta told OBL he needed more training time. Obviously that added time paid off, as they had a 75% success rate.
But of course you would know all this if you had bothered to read bin Laden’s 1996 Fatwa against America, in which he mentions Bill Clinton by name several times. Not once did he mention George Bush.
Keep digging. At this rate you’ll be in Beijing by the end of the thread!
Del Dolemonte on December 18, 2012 at 6:05 PM
exactly! in 2004, it was a country of morons, but people happily got to their senses by 2008! they wavered a bit halfway through but strong signs of intelligent life returned in time for 2012.

if soccer games were only 80 minutes, tottenham would be leading the league. alas, games are 90 minutes long, not 80, so they’re fourth.
bin laden mentioned clinton because, according to my sources, he was president at the time.
this is awfully weak sauce for such a wild accusation.

More like the welfare queens didn’t realize there was an election in 2010 got off the couch in 2012. But, glad you’re willing to acknowledge that you threw in with the moron vote, according to Pew.
The Count on December 18, 2012 at 6:19 PM
also, just for the record, obama won by 3.7% and 332-206, whereas bush won by 2.4% and 286-251. not the same.

Don’t be sexist. There are just as many male sponges under 0bama.
Call them 0bamaphone junkies.
cozmo on December 18, 2012 at 6:23 PM
There is no amount of reason that will ever break through to them. You can show them all the studies in the world that stricter gun laws inflame gun violence and that tax revenues increase with lower tax rates. For them, it’s not about results – it’s about settling political scores. Obama’s class warfare played very well among the stupid masses, according to Pew, that voted for Obama.
The Count on December 18, 2012 at 6:26 PM
Ha. Yeah, just a world of difference.
Bush grew his support from 2000. Obama lost half his popular margin and 2 states. This almost never happens in a successful re-election.
Alot of people sobered up.
