It’s almost hard to believe that they got so much wrong by accident, but then you’d ask what would be in it for them to get it wrong on purpose? All I can think is that it’s dangerous for the media to get it right the first time because they like the flexibility of trying narratives that fit their agenda on other kinds of stories and they can replace those narratives if it won’t fly if “we got it wrong” is something expected of them. Otherwise, we say they lied.

So, was the rifle found in the trunk of his car or not? Did he place it there after killing himself?…/s

Here’s an assumption on my part.
Mom was not a responsible gun owner. If she had been, she’d be alive today, along w/ 20 Children, who were murdered b/c she did not have HER weapons secured – PERIOD.

Exactly right.

Conspiracy nuts are already sayign that this is some big government conspiracy and are linking this with the Batman movie shooting.

At least you’ve moved on to blaming people instead of inanimate objects. Baby steps:)
Clink on December 18, 2012 at 7:32 AM
Buzzfeed was the first to “report” the gunman as Ryan Lanza. Epic fail.

How do you know he didn’t over power her and force her to give him the guns? She’s freaking dead, obviously if she knew this was going to happen she would have done things a lot different, gotten rid of the guns and had him locked up. If he hadn’t used her guns he would have stolen some from somewhere else or made some homemade bombs or something. Blaming the dead mom for what her unbalanced son did is about as logical as blaming the gun. It’s so easy after the fact to say what she should have done, but given what we know about her and him before he actually did it, I see no reason to place any blame with her. He was a 20 year old adult and deserves full responsibility for what he did.

THIS.
None of us know what happened in that home.
For those of you speculating this way, that mom was an irresponsible gun owner, you have no f@cking clue so STFU.
My God you people are just as bad as the gossiping media.
Wait til you know more before coming up with an opinion on something.
And people wonder why Obama ‘won’ a 2nd term?

Their biggest mistake was repeating and reporting stuff they heard. They did it all the time.

#6 is pretty lame. The headline they quote has to do with an altercation with staff… but the “correct” part simply says:
How is that a contradiction to the idea that there was an altercation with the staff? If the quoted/screen-captured bit had alleged a motive, they might have a point, but it didn’t. Was there an altercation? If so, the quoted piece was correct. If there wasn’t, then it was an error, but BuzzFeed’s “correction” doesn’t correct anything.
It’s the not so much the blind leading the blind here, but the blind correcting the blind’s fashion faux pas, claiming their socks clash with their shirt.

I do have a clue that CT law cncerning handguns and supported by CT court decisions is that a licensed gun owner may not allow an underage (<21) person access to a handgun except under certain conditionas, like being at a shooting range. So speaking of STFU, pull your head out and wipe the residue out of your eyes.
I don't have a problem w/ law abiding people owning as many guns as they want. Just be responsible and keep irresponsible people away from your weapons.
Just like I will not let my child use my car if they've been drinking. Be responbsible for your stuff.
gonnjos on December 18, 2012 at 3:17 PM
If one can’t drink or own a gun under the age of 21, why the heck can said underager own a car, sign a contract or even vote? Cognitive dissonance on CT’s part.
