Mark Sanford “studying” run for Scott’s House seat
Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford is being approached by local conservatives to run for Republican Rep. Tim Scott’s soon-to-be-vacant House seat — and is considering it — according to two sources in the state. Sanford previously occupied the same Charleston-based seat in the 1990s.
The Republican ex-governor is “studying” a run for the 1st District and making a political comeback, according to one well-placed South Carolina source. …
Sanford has about $124,000 in his old federal account. He left the governor’s mansion at the beginning of 2011 after his last two years in office were marred by his admission of an extramarital affair. Sanford’s ex-wife, Jenny Sanford, is also among the names of potential 1st District candidates being bandied about in light of Scott’s appointment.

Governor -> Congressman is a big step down, especially when the congressional seat isn’t at-large.

“Studying” a run? I guess that’s better than “flirting” with one.

They’re engaged now, I’m going to take him at his word that she’s his soul mate, he really seemed to risk everything for her.

This guy was one of the best governors in America and all of the so-called ‘conservatives’ want to trash this guy.
Thanks SoCons! You guys are doing a swell job these days!
Notorious GOP on December 18, 2012 at 7:35 AM
Not a SoCon here but I’d really like to know how it is their fault that this guy cheated on his wife and lied to everyone about it.
