Calls for more gun control only fuel the “gun culture” that liberals fear
“I’m selling high-capacity magazines as fast as I can get them, and people are buying ammunition not by the box but three and four cases at a time,” a gun store owner told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in 1994. The price of an AR-15 tripled as so-called “assault rifles” were about to be banned.
As pundits, politicians, and anti-gun activists hype more gun-control measures, it usually has the opposite effect. American citizens react by stocking up on weapons and ammo.
It’s a common American reaction. When Twinkies threaten to vanish forever, Americans rushed to stock up on the largely insignificant sponge cake. In the light of a perceived government incandescent light-bulb ban, Americans began stockpiling boxes of treasured 60 watt bulbs.

Saw it my own self on Saturday. I thought real hard about selling a couple that haven’t recovered from the previous ban.

At about 5′-3″.

The last ban actually increased the sales of AR-15s and turned them from a niche product into the most owned rifle. There are far more in circulation because of the ban.
But that’s ok because feeelings are more important than results.
juliesa on December 17, 2012 at 5:24 PM
I’ll be buying several thousand rounds of ammo.
Something tells me that they’re going to be placing a huge tax on ammo, our of frustration at not being able to outright ban guns.
UltimateBob on December 17, 2012 at 5:26 PM
Buy the little woman a bag of mags for Christmas.
juliesa on December 17, 2012 at 5:28 PM
It is not nice to mess with American’s 2nd, we do not take that lightly! We know what/who bho/team is and what they want to do to our country. Our only thing we have, defend ourselves against the very big bro who want to do away with us! We were warned over 200 years about this and it is happening now, those who want to take away and those who want to hold dear our country! WHO are you for?

Absolutely. Pre the 94 ‘ban’ you had to go out of your way to find an AR to buy. Now you can get them at Walmart.
JStew on December 17, 2012 at 5:34 PM
Yep, it’s making me think about buying another one just to register my dissent.
petefrt on December 17, 2012 at 5:36 PM
If 0bama gets his “gun control” through by hook or crook, there won’t be any “grandfather” clause, they’ll all need to be turned in.
Rebar on December 17, 2012 at 5:37 PM
Well, the firearm I just purchased would almost certainly be banned in any sort of assault weapons bill, which is the main reason I purchased it now.
Otherwise I was going to purchase a pretty ordinary pistol.
Nessuno on December 17, 2012 at 5:38 PM
Since women don’t do mass shootings will they be allowed to own assault weapons?
albill on December 17, 2012 at 5:41 PM
That won’t happen. I suspect even many liberals would find gun confiscation just a little too much. As much as some liberals whine about guns I believe they understand the dire consequences of an unarmed populace and a power mad leftist government intent on “fundamentally transforming” America.
darwin on December 17, 2012 at 5:41 PM
I believe you’re wrong, 99% of liberals would support confiscation.
It’s happened before, and the 0bama regime will follow the same blueprint.
Rebar on December 17, 2012 at 5:47 PM
Good luck with confiscation, seriously, good luck because you will need all of it.
Bishop on December 17, 2012 at 5:50 PM
The English turned in their guns without a fight, same with Australians.
People who won’t vote for their guns, won’t fight for their guns.
Rebar on December 17, 2012 at 5:53 PM
But you noobs caused the price surge.
I never had a problem finding one ’til y’all.
I wish them bad luck. I want the good luck to be with me. You never know how many they will bring, I might need some luck.
cozmo on December 17, 2012 at 5:54 PM
Not even FrankenFienstien is talking about retroactive bans.

Gun control laws say nothing more than: “You, Mr. LawAbidingCitizen, are no longer allowed to own or purchase this item that has been legally manufactured, legally bought, and legally owned for centuries, because someone you have never met, who may very well live several states away from you, might commit a crime with a similar item.”
The assumption is that you are already guilty.
I see that as a clear violation of my 4th, 6th, and possibly 5th and 8th Amendment rights.
Washington Nearsider on December 17, 2012 at 6:36 PM
Oh yeah, and non-Whites.
WeekendAtBernankes on December 17, 2012 at 6:36 PM
As would the law abiding people of this nation. Even though they would know it is wrong they would do it without resistance.
Frank Enstine on December 17, 2012 at 6:41 PM
And then they would die. Perhaps not immediately afterwards, but in the very foreseeable future, they would.
It would be the most avoidable tragedy in American history… and we’ll probably sprint pell mell into it.
Washington Nearsider on December 17, 2012 at 6:45 PM
Good luck with that.
Americans aren’t the English or Australians, and half of this country did vote for their guns last election. Some would comply, sure, but most wouldn’t. And any attempt at forced confiscation would result in a bigger massacre than all school killings combined multiplied by 10.
