Truth of the matter is, if it goes up for everyone things will get ugly really fast economy wise. I know I know, its fun sitting behind a computer typing “let it burn” and acting all tough. Problem is, it will also screw you over too big time. Its funny now until you also dont have a job or things cost 3x’s as much as it does now.

All we can hope for is that this get settled and things stay the same for pretty much everyone for now and hold out hope for 2016… but until then, taxes ARE going up for the rich, lets just hope it does not take the rest of us down along with them… I dont enjoy paying more taxes.

Agreed with the above. My guess is the only Republican in the house that votes for allowing the debt ceiling to go without qualifications would be Boehner himself. Let it go for a vote.

I don’t believe even Boehner himself would vote for that!

I have to believe that some of what we hear that he’s proposing is only because he is testing 0dumba’s limits, perhaps partially out of astonishment?

I would like to be wrong. It would indeed be a happy new year if the House GOP told Obama to go over the cliff.

I don’t want to go over it, but if it comes down to that or selling out Conservative principles, it’s a no-brainer.

Here is something to keep in mind – 0dumba does not want to go over the cliff either, even if he believes the GOP would get the majority of the blame

Given the House GOP ‘s track record, snd the rumors of McConnell’s caving, what te rest of the GOP thinks won’t won’t matter if enough of the congressional GOP caves.

rumors shrumors – I want to see a real proposal before I get emotional about what might happen. If Boehner and the GOP badly cave over this, I think you’d agree with me that it would end the GOP as we now know it.

I said this is another thread today, and I’ll mention it here: people like you and me stopped GWB from promoting Harriet Miers to the SC, and the GOP’s wrongheaded attempt to reform immigration in 2006 – we did it before, I believe we can do it again, and that is why I am optimistic now.

All that’s left now is a largely pointless postmortem of the late United States.
