“Nancy told me he was burning himself with a lighter. In the ankles or arms or something.”
A drinking buddy of Lanza’s told the Daily News that her son Adam had long been troubled and rarely came up in conversation.
“She just looked down at the glass and said, ‘I don’t know. I’m worried I’m losing him,’” said the bar pal, who did not wish to be named, of the ominous conversation at the watering hole My Place in Newtown, Conn.
“She said it was getting worse. She was having trouble reaching him.”

What I want to see is how many medications he was on, how long he’d been on psychotropic drugs, if they changed them recently and whether he took them consistently.
I would ALSO lie the know the SAME information on ALL recent shooters.

That’s just the way tabloids are written. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

FNC has been non-stop wallowing in this story since Friday. I cut it off Saturday afternoon. Enough is enough. Screw the vulture media.
I haven’t watched ABC,CBS, NBC/MSNBC for at at least eight years, but I imagine they’re exploiting this tragedy to the fullest to push their no-gun agenda, leftists that they are.
So now, with no TV that interests me, I’ll be having cheap red wine with podcasts by Mark Levin this evening. Cheers.

Another troubled 20 year old-ish kid, on the border of psychosis. Part of it is the stresses of modern life. If he was Amish he’d be working hard, doing a lot of chores, a simpler life, a simpler world … he might be fine. 60 minutes is doing a piece on the shootings right now.

Clearly a danger to himself at that point, which should have gotten him committed.

At first I chuckled. But then again, there’s a lot of truth to that. Not just a simpler world, but a world built on freedom, opportunity, morality and personal responsibility.

Amish have withstood the ravages of liberalism over time pretty well, I’d say. I wonder if we might learn a few things from them.
Not going back to the horse and buggy, of course. But creating alternate institutions and opting out of the ‘liberal’ society.

It’s so strange, no one in the article had anything bad to say about mom or Adam, everyone that knew them seems totally surprised, no one is saying they saw it coming.Mom said she was getting him help, I suppose more will come out about that. People said she didn’t work at the school, she spent all her time with her kids. Do we know why initial reports said she worked there? Didn’t something say he had the disease where he didn’t feel pain normally? That would explain why he was burning himself. It’s just so senseless, I hope we gain some insights so as to be able to prevent.

Plenty of articles have quoted friends, family members and/or acquaintances that said that it was not surprising.
Resist We Much on December 16, 2012 at 9:04 PM
Well, yeah, I get he wasn’t normal and people knew that, but I guess he did act normally sometimes like the article said at the uncles BBQ recently or something. Bipolar or something where at times he’d be ok but at others not. And quoting outbursts or not connecting still would seem surprising to me at such large scale and senseless violence. Obviously his mom knew he was not doing well, but she didnt seem concerned former safety or others or would have had the guns locked up more, I’d think, and this article doesn’t paint her in a bad or irresponsible way at all. It’s all still very confusing to me. But I guess I’m more focused on this because of the horrifying aspect of the little children, I’m not sure if why was ever answered in va tech or columbine, that movie theatre shooting, etc, it just fades and I loose attention before all the details are known, especially when the perpetrator is gone and there isn’t a trial or anything.
