Which party gets hurt if we go off the cliff?
Voters’ predictions of how they will respond to an event are not always reliable. For that reason I have tended to discount polls that say far more will blame Republicans than Obama for going over the fiscal cliff. Another reason is that individuals are usually more popular than groups, especially Congress. Presidents almost always are more popular than “Republicans in Congress” or “Democrats in Congress.” The inclusion in the Hart/McInturff question of the “equally to blame” option and the fact that a solid majority embrace it suggest to me that going over the fiscal cliff may be more dangerous to Obama than has generally been assumed. Voters focus more on the president than they do on congressional leaders. It seems likely to me that both Obama and congressional leaders would suffer in public opinion if we go off the cliff. That’s what happened after the failure of the grand bargain talks in summer 2011.

The taxpayers.
But since when did either party care about them?

Nobody gets hurt real bad. Raising the debt ceiling – that will hurt. A lot. And it won’t stop hurting.

“Which party gets hurt” was settled when the Democrats and the media decided their top priority after the election was destroying the Republican Party.

I used to respect Barone.

I’m taking a break from reading Barone, as he has been so wrong in recent years.
If he ever calls an election right again, then I’ll come back.

May they all go off the cliff, heads first, Obama, Boehner, and all the other fools. I don’t care which party they are from.

Still waiting for the 300 plus electoral vote landslide for Romney.

If by “hurt” he means excoriated and demagogued by the MSM, then the GOP, of course. What a dumb question.

Who cares? the country will be hurt. what difference does it make which party gets the blame. Personally I blame the entire politcal class who cares more about which party gets the blame then fixing the problems for the greater good of the country. So tired of this ride. I want to get off and have leaders of a nation who care about the nation not their own politcal standing and power.
A pox on both their houses. And if the leaders are more worried about blame then is there really any problem to begin with? think about it if it was a big problem that could destroy the country there wouldn’t be these games being played.
