Newest cause of short-term memory loss: Online porn
German researchers asked 28 men — all heterosexual, and averaging 26 years of age — to look at a number of computer images. Some images were pornographic and some were nonsexual. The nonsexual images included pictures of people doing a number of activities, such as laughing, playing sports or carrying a weapon.
As the volunteers viewed the pictures, they touched a “yes” or “no” key to indicate whether or not the picture they were seeing was the same as one they had seen four slides previously.
The men logged a significantly greater number of incorrect answers when they viewed the porn than when they saw the nonsexual images. On average, they answered correctly 67 percent of the time when they viewed pornographic pictures but 80 percent of the time when they saw the nonsexual pictures.

The PORN will betray you.

What does that study have to do with short term memory? Sounds like it had more to do with being able to pay attention.
Show me a porn clip and I probably wouldn’t be able to tell you what the girl looked like because I wasn’t looking at her face or even thinking about those types of details.
Show me a photo of a woman laughing fully clothed and I could give you much more detail.

So, German males think all women look the same under the hood?

Theres porn on the interwebs?
Valkyriepundit on December 16, 2012 at 1:07 AM
So let me get this straight — they showed a number of pictures and asked if people had seen the same picture again four pictures back. When the pictures were porn, the men would more often say that the same picture was four pictures ago when it wasn’t, or they’d say that the same picture wasn’t four pictures ago when it was.
I’d say that proved that porn makes guys lose count.

You know, I’ll bet anything that causes a strong emotional response would draw the same results. Lust is a strong emotion. I’ll bet if you showed a picture of someone puking, they’d remember that as well.
Othniel on December 16, 2012 at 3:26 AM
Well, my short-term memory is completely shot then.

This a bunch of nonsense. How can you say that…er…um…what were we talking about?
RadClown on December 16, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Actually, it isn’t a fair test unless porn pics were in with the “four pics ago” group.
platypus on December 16, 2012 at 10:24 AM
Well perhaps the young lady was reading Nietzsche in one photograph and Schopenhauer in another! Or perhaps the study is all lies!
