Will the record number of women senators mean less gridlock?
Women are more collaborative and collegial leaders, studies have found. And for those bemoaning the increasing nastification of the Senate, it may mean the chances for an antidote have just increased.
“We women set the tone for civility and respect on Capitol Hill,” said Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.), the chamber’s longest-serving woman. “We want to carry that tone of civility with us in an otherwise prickly institution.”…
For years, women in both parties have met regularly for dinners. Every few months, they meet in the Capitol’s Strom Thurmond Room, the irony of which isn’t lost on them. Their gathering spot is named for a man whose parting words to the Senate were, “I love all of you, and especially your wives.”
Over glasses of wine and sometimes a pecan pie baked by Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), they discuss their personal worlds — kids, husbands, books, vacation plans.

Have these people ever been in an argument with a woman before? It isn’t pretty.
Come on, less gridlock? Please, try more bickering.

ROTFLOL. If the majority of senators were chicks, we’d have semi-permanent deadlock.

If the majority of senators were female we might see open brawls like some other countries (but with kicking and hair pulling).
OTOH we might be able to sell tickets; imagine the renewed interest in seeing “government in action”!

My thoughts exactly.
+1 to you, sir or madam.

What a load. It takes them 30 minutes to figure out where to eat lunch.

Pelosi was my first thought!
As a woman I have to say that I simply could not break bread with people who are set on subverting what I hold dear about this country.
I would sit down at an official function, but an informal group? How would I talk about my children with women who are fiercely pro-abortion and don’t give a fig for children in the womb? I would gag.

Politicians may come in different genders, but they still are politicians.
Pelosi set the tone for incivility. And showed how to stage things. And how to lie. And helped to establish new lows of trust in our government.
