“Send us Hagel, and we’ll make sure every American knows he is an anti-Semite”
In response to reports that Barack Obama is likely to choose Chuck Hagel to be the next secretary of defense, a top Republican Senate aide emails, “Send us Hagel and we will make sure every American knows he is an anti-Semite.”
When asked to elaborate, the aide writes, “Hagel has made clear he believes in the existence of a nefarious Jewish lobby that secretly controls U.S. foreign policy. This is the worst kind of anti-Semitism there is.”
The top aide Republican Senate aide passes along this quotation from Hagel: “The political reality is that … the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people up here.”

Hagel is also an idiot. Prior to the Surge in Iraq, he said it would be the worst strategic mistake in the history of the country.

So is it anti-white to say that Grover Norquist has an influence on capital hill? Even describing the existence of the Israel lobby is anti-semitic? What?
libfreeordie on December 14, 2012 at 7:58 AM
You liberal douche. Have you ever, even once, just commented on the freaking thread topic when it came to the unacceptable behavior or rhetoric of you own kind without trying to deflect it with an, “Oh, look over there at the GOP.”?
You are so f3cking pathetically partisan and deluded by your own liberal media propaganda.
Missed your commentary on Crowder getting beat up. I guess you were ok with that?

Please don’t waste your prescious time and breath on this racist troll hawkdriver.

What does Grover Norquist have to do with the Israel lobby? If I recall, Grover is very much against the Israel lobby.

Worse an anti-Semite than our Kenyan dictator?

FIFY
Know who you meant, of course, just without that important missing comma some of the newbies might read it wrong.

The GOP is losing the America Jewish vote… so why should we care?
ninjapirate on December 14, 2012 at 8:35 AM
You’re right of course. But he is so profoundly anti-violence, (except of course when he adopted the screen name DeathToMediaHacks the first time before banning) and I just thought since he always asserts we are so violent on the right, what his thoughts on Crowder being attacked were.
No matter. He doesn’t answer the tough questions honestly anyway. Because really, he’s a coward. A coward and living a lie. He’d be perfectly fine with a man like Hagel serving as SECDEF even after making a statement giving insight to his prejudices and insulting both our Jewish citizens and Israel. Even after analysing every word uttered by Conservatives and finding fault with, let’s face it, nearly everything we say. He still cannot take umbrage of one of his own for fear of it weakening their resolve in any way, shape or form.
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn called that mindset in the former USSR “The Father of all lies.”
hawkdriver on December 14, 2012 at 8:37 AM
Well, of course Hagel is an anti-Semite; this is a prerequisite for working for obama.

Go back to analogy school because yours doesn’t work. In fact, it’s laughable.

Appreciate it but I got it too. Although, the liberal troll DBear, who likes to call us “Rednecks”, seems to think I am quite the racist.
hawkdriver on December 14, 2012 at 8:40 AM
They can pout and scream all they want about Hagel– no one gives a crap any more
The media has checked out
The rest of the country actually couldn’t care less about Israel, other than conservatives and Evangelicals
Who would have thought that Jews consistently voting against their own self-interest for anti-semitic liberals, would eventually have consequences?
thurman on December 14, 2012 at 9:07 AM
Sorry I have no problem with the quote because it is true. It is also not anti-semetic. It is not anti-gun to say the NRA intimidates a lot of people in the Congress. Even the most pro-gun people would say the NRA intimidates Congressmen. There is nothing wrong with that; lobbyists are supposed to persuade Congressmen, and the threat of primarying an incumbent if he votes the wrong way on some legislation is one of the means of persuasion. If you don’t know that you are just being naive. The pro-abortion lobby, the anti-tax lobby, the environmental lobby, all lobbies work through some form of subtle intimidation. To say the obvious, that the pro-Israel lobby is strong on Capitol Hill, is not to say there is a secret cabal of Jewry running the country’s foreign policy, as this unnamed Sentate aide says Hagel meant by his quote. It probably does mean Hagel doesn’t like some of the US policy toward Israel, and that is something to be debated. It does not make him an anti-semite. Charges of racism and anti-semetism that are unwarranted is the poison of our political age. We should not be engaging in it.

Don’t you dare mention our powerful lobby that threatens and scares people into silence, or we’ll….use that lobby to threaten and scare people into silence.
mythicknight on December 14, 2012 at 9:30 AM
Oh stuff a sock in it you Zionist rump-kisser. The NRA is SUPPOSED to ‘intimidate’ Congresscritters because that’s dang near the only way to make those lying cheating slobs do anything.
MelonCollie on December 14, 2012 at 9:30 AM
Actually Obama lost more Jews this time (9 points). That Demographic is moving in the right direction.
And we should care because it is right to do so. Period.

Reading is easy when you don’t sweat comprehension. Norquist is a real person who makes quite clear what he is trying to do and he does it out in the open.
This supposed Jewish lobby is a figment of Hagel’s imagination. Only anti-[insert group here] types come up with such figments. For example, the idea that Norquist only represents white people is a figment of your anti-Conservative mind.
Odysseus on December 14, 2012 at 9:47 AM
Please tell me you mean there’s no such thing as a big secret rule-the-world lobby, you’d be absolutely correct.
But if you’re saying Jews don’t have a lobby at all? Like hell they don’t. Every cause and people-group under the sun, moon, and stars has a lobby.
MelonCollie on December 14, 2012 at 9:51 AM

Um…there could be an element of truth to that statement…but personally I wouldn’t touch that comparison with a 39 & 1/2 foot pole.

Wow. Crap. Thanks. Guess I shouldn’t have slept through 7th grade English. Sorry HD.
29Victor on December 14, 2012 at 10:07 AM
Exactly. Because his stated goals and values are not his actual goals and values. His goals are political power for his side and his values are whatever it takes to acquire that power.
That’s why it’s pointless to debate with him. Since his statements aren’t consistent with his beliefs he is incapable of holding logically coherent positions on anything. He engages in what I believe are called “situational ethics.” They’re impossible to defend so name-calling, bad analogies and hyperbole are all he has left.

Nothing to be sorry for.

For the record, I can’t stand Norquist, either.

No fix was needed. You made perfect sense. Your sentence structure was direct rather than weak and passive.
Useless commas often lead to poor sentence structure. The correction would have been tossed out by any copy-editor.
Seventh-grade English is a great target for writers. Many so-called writers aim higher and fall hard.
Use the shortest words in the shortest sentences possible to avoid sounding like

Also, what’s up with anti-Semitism? I am simply baffled by it. Are most anti-Semites raised that way? Is it regional?
Anti-Semites sure are a diverse, odd lot. I’ve never really heard one defend themselves either. It’s as if they don’t reject the label.
