I was so tired of the pablum Xmas Seasonal Music (XSM, it ain’t Christmas carols) that I avoid some stores, malls and public places. The smarm overload is sickening. The stores should sell insulin in the aisles beside the hooded kneewarmers and fruitcake juicers. It was so bad the Saturday after Thanksgiving that I went into two stores and heard two different Silver Bells then walked outside and heard a third over the strip mall sidewalk speakers – all within 15 minutes. At that point Christmas was over for me. Anyone needs a gift, they’re getting cash. No tripe at the ATM.

First off, the only christmas music I enjoy is the legit christmas carol music – the secular music annoys me (cross referenced under ‘rockin around the christmas tree’, ‘feliz navidad’, etc).

Secondly, and really the point I wanted to make… I spent just less than 70% as much as I did last year on gifts. Another fruit cake for grandpa doesn’t pay the mortgage.

Yeah, except for a few select secular Christmas songs (Silver Bells reminds me of Christmas at Grandma’s, for instance), I really only enjoy the carols as well.
