Breaking: As many as 20 dead in Connecticut school shooting; Update: 27?
Multiple fatalities have been reported at a shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., about 65 miles northeast of New York City. One law enforcement offcial said preliminary reports suggested there could be as many as 20 fatalities.
One state official said that an adult gunman was believed to be dead in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. The gunman was in possession of at least two firearms, the official said.
Update: Worse and worse — CBS says it’s 27 dead, 14 of whom are children.

If I’m not mistaken, not-so-Great Britan outlawed ALL guns after a mass school shooting similar to this. 1997, I believe.

Wow, this is horrible. In our school district (western suburbs of chicago) there were rumors among the students that there would be some sort of violence either today or next Friday. More recent reports are of a bomb threat at one school and a shooting threat at another.
We all know how the liberals will respond: “We need more gun control!”
My solution: arm the teachers. My father-in-law (who is a teacher) says that he knows a number of teachers in his Utah school who carry concealed all the time, including at school.
Interesting how these shootings tend to happen in places with strict gun control laws…

Two of the happiest years of my life were lived in Newtown.
It’s a sweet, attractive, Revolutionary War era, rural-ish town where the movie theater is in the town hall.
I did my photography internship on the local paper, The Newtown Bee.
This, and I know I’m saying nothing new, is unimaginable.

Most mass shootings like this occur in so-called “Gun-Free” zones where the perp know that no one will shoot back.
You can almost clock how long it’ll take the gun-grabbing-ghouls to take advantage of a tragedy like this to punish people who are innocent.
Fact is, gun are a very old technology – semi automatic weapons have been around for over 100 years and yet these tragedies are only recent occurrences – so why are folks going to blame the guns?

Should have a repeal amendment available to vote on when these things happen so Democrats can’t demogouge. If they don’t vote to repeal the 2nd amendment, then they have nothing to talk about. If they do vote to repeal, then they are damaged. There is no chance that it will be repealed.
