Bobby Jindal: It’s time to offer birth-control pills over the counter
Although the op-ed might seem like a shift to the left for the Catholic governor, Jindal also reiterated his conservative reasoning behind his support for the issue.
First, he made clear if oral contraception was more readily available, employers currently mandated to provide it under President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act would not need to do so…
Second, he touted the impact it could have on individual buyers, saying “it’s time to put purchasing power back in the hands of consumers.”
Finally, he said if oral contraception is available over-the-counter, this would put an end to the politicization of the issue.

As a conservative pro-lifer I agree wholeheartedly with Jindal.

Fixed it for you, Dante.
Keep making the silly anarchist arguments on here, but:
(1) your arguments are excessively radical; and
(2) you’re not very good at making the arguments.

Why not simply say drug actions instead of pharmacokinetics? One certainly sounds more dramatic but many of us can get by saying S
un instead of Stella Solaris.
Some doctors like Jocelyn “Eric Clapner” Elders probably should be bus drivers.
The unfortunate impact of everything from ambulance chasing to insurance costs to being shortchanged by Medicare has compressed the time a doctor can spend with a patient. Much can be told from the patient affect followed by deductively ruling things out instead of awash in possibilities as the layman or analyst or TV drama “House” enthusiast might assume. “Read the leaflet” is liability management.
No wonder so many doctors are retiring early. Presumption that their judgment extends solely from 15 minutes face to face trying to communicate with patients pre-programmed by drug ads and docu-dramas.
There was an technical illustrator named Daniel Rebour who encountered a client whereby he provided the work requested in about twenty minutes then charged his usual fee. The client complained “But it only took you about twenty minutes!” Rebour replied: “Yes, and a lifetime of experience.”

Why are you worried about the term?
Regardless of the reasons, high patient throughput is now germane to this issue. Thanks for acknowledging this.
And there are plenty of smart, dedicated physicians out there. But this doesn’t mean that OTCs shouldn’t exist. The line needs to be drawn, and I believe that the line is drawn too conservatively.
Maybe someday I’ll tell you about my experience with physician ignorance with respect to pharmaceuticals.
