“I’ve had it with this guy. He can’t get nominated.”
“Charlie Crist will say anything to make himself look good, even if it’s not actually true. If you look at the actual quote, you will see that is not what Governor Bush said,” said Jaryn Emhof, a spokesperson for Bush. “Many have ignored the “and I don’t” section of his quote and misinterpreted it as him saying Ronald Reagan and his dad couldn’t win today.”
“I think he is embarrassed about his quote now,” said Charlie Crist to BuzzFeed. “I’ve had it with this guy. He can’t get nominated. He wants to run for President against his buddy Marco Rubio.”
“It’s fun to tell the truth,” Crist added. “I quoted the man honestly. He’s not being truthful with you.”

It’s bound to be amusing what will come now that the Republicans don’t have to closet him anymore. Oh, we’ll see how “powerful” Jeb Bush is in Florida.

The quote in question:
Shorter version: “Ronald Reagan was a great moderate and would have opposed the Tea Party.”
Yep, sounds like Crist is right. About the context, anyway. Crist, of course, is quoting this as positive reinforcement, or vindictive irony, “vindictive irony” being what’s left of his political career.

Two people who really need to drop out of the political spotlight.

Crist vs. Jeb Bush. Kind of like the Iran-Iraq war. Can they both lose?
Bitter Clinger on December 13, 2012 at 8:22 AM
My current theory about the 2010 Senate race is that Rubio was pushed forward by the Bushes, especially Jeb, to tank Crist’s career. This worked spectacularly, but also ended up backfiring on the Bushes because of the monster they created.

You know, the only people who would fight harder than the Democrats to keep Jeb Bush from being nominated to anything is half the Republican Party.

what is it about the bad-comb-over-balding-amnesty loving statist that people find appealing?
he really helped us win florida. right?…………
oh, wait…you must be one of those that like his looks. phooey.

Umm… Rubio put to bed any chance Jeb had of ever being President. Which is hilarious that Rubio probably ended both the Oompa Loompa and Jeb’s Presidential ambitions.

I’m on Bush’s side on this one. In fact, I will always be on the side of those with whom this opportunistic, weaselly scumbag disagrees, even if I don’t care much for them otherwise.

Well, if I want the truth, I would certainly expect to get it from a disgruntled former Republican politician converting to a Democrat because he couldn’t win an election as a Republican.

When I first saw this quote in the Headlines section, I assumed it was a Florida Democrat talking about Crist’s plans to run for governor as a Dem.

Florida was a big disappointment on 11/6. I am sick of Jeb Bush, and Charlie Crist. I fear for FEAR FOR poor Marco Rubio, that anything that is good will be spoiled and trampled by the liberals, union thugs and the cry that long lines at the polls are disenfranchisement.
Do you know what that means? they cannot show up with their bus loads of “voters” and walk right in and vote and get the bus back on the road. These are not the “personal responsibility” voters that think about getting their own large behind to the voting place, and who are too good to wait in line.
I would suggest a better plan for conservatives would be to buy up some of the foreclosed homes down there and give the communities names that appeal only to conservatives, and cultivate conservative cultures at the homeowners association. A lot of people could use a place to live without state taxes.
And Florida has to start working on their illegal problem. Marco too.

“Ronald Reagan would have, based on his record of finding accommodation, finding some degree of common ground, as would my dad — they would have a hard time if you define the Republican party — and I don’t — as having an orthodoxy that doesn’t allow for disagreement, doesn’t allow for finding some common ground,” Bush said, adding that he views the hyper-partisan moment as “temporary.”
“Back to my dad’s time and Ronald Reagan’s time – they got a lot of stuff done with a lot of bipartisan suport,” he said. Reagan “would be criticized for doing the things that he did.”
Bush cited, in particular, “the budget deal my dad did, with bipartisan support — at least for a while — that created the spending restraint of the ‘90s,” a reference to a move widely viewed now as a political disaster for Bush, breaking a pledge against tax increases and infuriating conservatives. It was, Bush said, “helpful in creating a climate of more sustainted economic growth.”
“Politically it clearly didn’t work out — he was a one term president,” his son said.
Bush called the present partisan climate “disturbing.” – Jeb Bush
It’s rather disturbing to agree with the Orange Man on anything, but Crist is right.

What? How did you get that out of the quote? That’s a fairly ridiculous interpretation of what he said.

If the tea party had existed during Reagan’s time, they would have boosted him even further along in achieving conservative goals. I blame Jeb for trying to rewrite history. And frankly given the narrow victory this year, yes Reagan would have easily beaten both Mittness and Oboobi, because he offered up a clear vision in bold colors and not the pastel pabulum that Mittness gave.
