Immigration activists launch major new push for comprehensive reform
Janet Murguia, the president of the National Council of La Raza, said Latinos had demonstrated their political power and now expected lawmakers to address the community’s issues.
“We’ve only scratched the surface,” she said at a news conference in downtown Washington. “We intend to continue to build that power. To grow that power. And now we intend to use it to advance comprehensive immigration reform.”
The coalition includes the Service Employees International Union, the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, the League of United Latin American Citizens, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, Mi Familia Vota, Voto Latino and the Hispanic Federation.
Their demands for immigration legislation include a comprehensive package and what they call a “path to citizenship.”

Secondly, what’s this “comprehensive reform” bullshyt? They think people are stupid? It’s open borders and amnesty.
If I were La Raza I’d concentrate on fixing Mexico. You grant amnesty to 20 million illegals and the entire system will collapse. We spend every penny of tax money on entitlements now, adding miillions to that will crash the US within a year.

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that I am in the Let It Burn camp when it comes to fiscal issues but I’ll fight to my last breath against any form of amnesty. These effers can suck it – both the Dems who want votes and the Repubs who want cheap labor. They have all sold our country out for their immediate gain. Disgusting.

You’re not alone. Also in the L.I.B camp, but amnesty is the one hill I’m prepared to die on. NumbersUSA sent out an alert two weeks ago for members to show up at their senators’ offices last Thursday and bring all the data proving that hispanics will normally vote Democratic and that it will destroy the GOP even faster. I went to Cornyn’s Houston office expecting to be the lone voice that showed up and 4 people were already there. It will probably be a tougher fight than 2006/2007 when our side won, but I’m ready.
