banned “at school”, not banned entirely. Let’s be honest if your going to have a debate. Don’t compare apples to oranges so glaringly.

And heaven forbid someone is labeled “rigid” when they stick to their beliefs…yeah, let’s not be called “rigid” just go along with whatever…

I think you’re against pot simply because libs are for it. Play the game. Your stance IS rigid (from a conservative that doesn’t smoke pot)

Letting Americans drug themselves into virtual slavery by the Demoncrats is the absolute antithesis of liberty. Not to mention that ‘common’ sense says that pot will only be the starting point.
People WILL start advocating for worse things to be legalized and taxed even though the tax income brought in will be laughably small, and the social disorder caused will cost us dearly.

You are changing the subject. Nothing you mentioned is on topic. But I’ll play.

“Mores change.” That statement of yours removes your impetus for even joining this argument.

Mores may be changing in this instance back to where they were before 1937. Why would that be a problem?

The federal govt used to plant marijuana along the Potomac River. That is a fact. Mores change, and may change again.

I have not invoked any cultures but ours, a culture that sends people to prison for getting high.

I am not arguing that heroin or any other drug be legalized, nor do I accept that liberalized pot laws would lead to that.

Oh, and MellonCollie, “mores” is pronounce morays, like the eel.

It’s exactly the same reasoning for weed as for booze, you just haven’t the stones to confess it.

Pot and alcohol, despite what advocates want us to believe, are different: historically, socially and medically. God, I’m surprised you didn’t bring up the whole hemp makes for great canvas bags argument.

Society draws it’s own lines in the sand…some cultures eat dogs, we don’t, some allow polygamy, we don’t…you don’t understand that one culture and another may have different views and laws?
This may be a law that morphs into another, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that it is now illegal, and it is because society deemed it that way…go ahead and argue for it, but be a little more intellectual and understand that laws and mores change over time. And acknowledge that having the argument that additional drugs entering our society is not a benefit and is a reasonable argument.

Booze has been a staple in every culture the world over since the time of Noah. Pot has not.

Noah had some problems while drunk. Perhaps booze was his way of coping after going through some traumatic events.

Pot is being handled by the states now. It’s a local law & order issue, not a moral one. If pot smokers don’t create a material public problem, then the government shouldn’t waste taxpayer dollars criminalizing them.
