“We are winning. We don’t have to give up on anything yet.”
Of course, any rate increase for Republicans — one that rank-and-file lawmakers could back and defend — would have to come with serious cuts to entitlement programs. And there’s no evidence President Barack Obama and Democrats have given in on any specific entitlement cuts in closed-door negotiations — especially enough to offset a rate change and an increase in the threshold for the rich…
There are numerous problems with the modest tax hikes for entitlement cuts trade off, which GOP Hill aides stressed has not been formally offered yet.
First, Democrats believe they are dealing from a place of strength in these negotiations and are unlikely to give up concessions on entitlement programs without big moves by Boehner.
“We are winning,” said a top Hill Democratic staffer. “We don’t have to give up on anything yet.”

The future?

I’m assuming the WH is leaking to Pelosi and Reid.

The future’s bad economy.
Vera71 on December 11, 2012 at 10:36 AM
So let the fiscal cliff come and the democrats get their tax hikes and the Republicans get their spending cuts. Win/Win right?
Browncoatone on December 11, 2012 at 10:37 AM
To quote Charlie Sheen … “Winning!”.
The country in deeper and deeper debt, we, our children, and grandchildren working as slaves for others, and the future collapse of the country’s economic health, our entitlement system, and, essentially, the breaking of so many promises made in the past, to our creditors and our elderly.
Winning!

Democrats are like Marxists in the old USSR: they don’t have to do anything but win. Plans are an afterthought.

We could place a 50% tax on any college endowment over $1 billion.
Harvard alone would have to cough up $15 billion.
Then, we could place a 50% tax on all foundations where the original donor has been dead for 25 years. This would snare Heinz, Ford, etc.
Then, we could tax unions.
faraway on December 11, 2012 at 10:39 AM
The tax on college endowments could pay off student loans.

Winning the blame game…. they have years of experience blaming others.
Bensonofben on December 11, 2012 at 10:41 AM
Well, liberals like to talk about power. Reclaiming your power. Power to the people. The ends justifying the means. Sanity takes a back seat to power. Not a good approach to good governance.

Thank god (lower case for expression purposes only)we ran Romney or we could totally be in terrible shape right about now.
The most electable!
The most qualified candidate since Jefferson!
Romney Death-star to be launched any moment now!
Romney’s wife is way better looking than Obama’s, women are totally going to go for Romney now!
Business experience translates directly into votes! Take that to the bank.
He’s so dreamy!
No way he will not attack Obama relentlessly on Obamacare! He is totally prepared to attack Obama on Obamacare.
Yeah, thanks for attacking and destroying every other potential candidate Hot Air, Drudge, Fox…

Exactly. The American people are merely pawns in the statists’ game of chicken.

My mother is in a nursing home because she fell and broke her hip, and she isn’t allowed out of her wheelchair without help because she is a “fall risk”. She thinks it’s fun to set off the alarm on her chair or her bed to get back at the staff because they won’t let her go home. The staff won’t let her go home because she keeps setting off the alarms, which tells them her dementia has put her in danger because she can’t remember she’s not allowed out of her chair. Her petty little ‘wins’ are reaping the exact opposite of what she wants. Same thing here.
Night Owl on December 11, 2012 at 10:52 AM
Yep we’re screwed.
gophergirl on December 11, 2012 at 11:02 AM
Lets go over the cliff. Lets watch them choke on their “winning”.
Valkyriepundit on December 11, 2012 at 11:08 AM
Damn…get over it. NONE of those other candidates actually WANTED the office…They were all losers. If they couldnt take the heat from a lousey PRIMARY contest–how the hell did you think they could have stood in a REAL contest. The Butcher of Benghazi only got 50.8% of the vote. You need to take a good look at your part, and all the others who did nothing but bitch about the final choice, in why our candidate lost…

Night, sorry about your Mom. Dementia is effecting her judgement. The hardest part for kids is accepting that their Mom is different than she was.

The addition of an “S” or two to the country’s name.
For those of you too young to remember, the “S”‘s the Rats are adding are Socialist and Soviet.
Steve Eggleston on December 11, 2012 at 11:14 AM
Oh right. “Your” candidate lost because he/she was “attacked”…And you think that they would have survived the AXLE machine so much better than Romney? REALLY??? They didn’t want to win hard enough, or fight long enough for the real battle. Stop bitching. I could just as easily say that it was because of you sore losers–bitching and sniping at the chosen candidate–that we lost…
lovingmyUSA on December 11, 2012 at 11:14 AM
Thanks, it’s a difficult adjustment for everyone.
Night Owl on December 11, 2012 at 11:26 AM
I’m comforted in the knowledge that reality will win this eventually. The Democrats can oppose spending cuts all they want – just like Greece did. But eventually, spending cuts will happen.
hawksruleva on December 11, 2012 at 11:28 AM
Depends where the attacks come from. I know everyone here takes MSNBC and CBS totally seriously. But when they come from freak shows like FOX, they have no effect.
Or wait, its the exact opposite.
These places sold their credibility to get behind Romney just long enough to knock out his competition.
As for them not being able to stand a primary, Newt remained in the primary. The reason is because Romney NEEDED to be brought to heel on conservative issues. He never did, and that cost him millions of votes.
Romney was a LOSER from the start. Dead man walking. Pushed on us because he is progressive and would keep moving the nation to the left even if he won the election. For progressives and Marxist, this election was win/win!

Obama won… and his winnings include a $4 million all-expenses-paid-by-taxpayers vacation in Hawaii.
The Rogue Tomato on December 11, 2012 at 12:30 PM
And there is the genuine problem -
These people confuse getting their way with winning.
