Study: Bedroom TVs linked to childhood obesity
About 70 percent of youngsters have a TV in the bedroom, and one-third are overweight or obese, the researchers said.
Previous studies have found a link between bedroom TVs and increased risk of being overweight in children, but these studies have primarily used body mass index (a ratio of height to weight), which is not an exact measurement of body fat.
Watching TV in the bedroom may pose extra hazards compared with regular TV viewing. Studies have linked bedroom TVs with reduced amounts of sleep, a factor that itself has been linked to weight gain, said study researcher Amanda Staiano, of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, La.

Funny that the left says we have a poverty problem and a fat problem at the same time. Caused by TV’s in the bedroom no less. Something doesn’t seem consistent…hmmmm…

Chicken meet egg.
Does the TV in the bedroom cause obesity? Or could it be that parents who keep TVs out of their children’s bedrooms are also more likely to serve healthy meals around the dinner table of intact families?

Holy hell, it’s, like, Revenge of 1987!
Seriously now, was the “author” of this article just too lazy to FIND->REPLACE “TV” with “computer“, or what?

Couldn’t be the fact that they’ve almost entirely removed PE from the schools. Something else has to be to blame.

No, eating too much makes you obese. Always looking for something external to blame. Personal responsibility is a foreign concept.

Never understood having a TV in a bedroom. Or a computer for that matter.
My house has this, apparently, very unique room in it.
Called a “Family Room”. Shared TV and computer with a few comfortable chairs. We use it quite frequently to, you know, act like a family.
And, said room is NOT part of the kitchen. No food.

I’m going to guess that eating too much andnotbeing active has more to do with.
That makes no sense.

TV was strongly restricted in my house, you had to either read or go play outside, outside of PBS of course which you could watch more often. This is actually the case for most progressives. Conservatism is about conformity, so most conservatives (outside of evangelicals) spend more time in front of the idiot box.
