Pretty much everyone else on Fox does a better job, but those two have the highest ratings.

“He [Boehner] should have blitzed all five Sunday shows, and then done the Today show the next morning. Are you telling me he can’t handle Matt Lauer?” asked veteran conservative media strategist Keith Appell, adding, “He could have maximized his narrative and really driven home the points that resonate with the broader public.”

I saw Boehner’s appearance on Chris Wallace’s show, and it was pathetically not much more than generalities. I’m glad that Boehner did not repeat that performance on any other show that day or the next.

If I understand the exit polls correctly, both parties took their base for granted, totally confident that they had no where else to go. The Republican base disagreed. Home seemed a plausible option.

Precisely. The GOP couldn’t turn out millions of those Fox news watchers, so that is where they need to start work and worry about other voters after.

It’s time to branch out a bit further. Of course this will require having a coherent message, discipline, and talented speakers.

That’s an almost impossible ask at the moment.

Um, didnt I read somewhere that a whole lot of Democrats watch Fox News? Conservatives get in the habit of being dismissive towards FNC these days, which is a big mistake. Even if FNC is not always ideologically pure, to have a successfull news outlet out there that is not spewing leftwing propaganda on default is worth a lot.
