Scarborough: Back these conservative bullies off by punching them in the face
“You have a lot of people running around, saying harsh things that sell books and push ratings and lose elections,” Scarborough said. “And that’s where we are. Conservatism is a racket for a lot of people to get very, very rich. With no thought of winning elections.”
Conservatives have winning ideas, he added, but they’re not being put forth in an effective way. “Our philosophy is a governing philosophy for the future,” he said, “but that’s been stripped away by the anti-intellectualism of the past decade and the conservative cause.”
Scarborough noted that there are exceptions, but that those who do try to push the message of compassionate conservatism in an “intelligent way” are “thrown to the side because they don’t sound enough like Glenn Beck or a blogger.” They’re “cowards” and “bullies,” he said. “You punch them in the face, and they back off.”

Scarborough has 2 broken thumbs because he doesn’t know how to make a fist.

I think it is adorable that Joe thinks he’s a conservative. Anti-intellectualism, always an argument winner.
Cindy Munford on December 10, 2012 at 12:15 PM
He’s right. The GOP is far too conservative and anti intellectual.
Pass the crack pipe.
CorporatePiggy on December 10, 2012 at 12:16 PM
Harsh things that lose elections? Like talking about how we’ll go bankrupt without entitlement reform?
Obama just won by calling Romney a murderer, felon, and racist btw Joe.
Kataklysmic on December 10, 2012 at 12:17 PM
Is this where Joe pretends he did not root for Obama at every opportunity and vigorously joined in when his panel attacked Romney…?
I will agree with him however that somebody needs a punch in the face and I know just the guy.
NeoKong on December 10, 2012 at 12:18 PM
I look forward to the day when you would be so bold as to try it Joe…until then, Lean Forward! and kiss my a$$

Guess scarborough wouldn’t have a problem with this guy because of WHO he is? Rich guy not paying his ‘fair share’ here in the US!

Did I misread this guy, or does he actually think compassionate conservatism is a good governing policy?

Joe is as dumb as Mika, and oh is she stupid!!!
They really deserve each other.

Well, he’s not entirely wrong. Every movement has that sort of tribal element. Politics especially.
But it is odd watching a guy who is on a network to bash conservatives talking about such matters. If he was as harsh with the liberal tribalists as the conservatives he’d had greater standing.

The RINO mantra in a nutshell… punch our side, love the enemy.
No Joe… we nee to ‘punch’ the enemy.

Joe sounds more and more like a Democrat every day. He and Charlie Crist make a great pair.

In Nazi-occupied Europe, Scarborough would be a collaborator.

What we need is “Operation Pushback” where we have individual private citizens showing up in droves to express our displeasure at the constant taxing and spending. When public employee unions hold a protest demanding more money be picked from our pockets so we take a pay cut so they can get a raise, we need to show up. I am not talking about “official” groups like “tea party” groups with signs and stuff, I am talking about just a plain old mob of grass roots citizens with our own megaphones and maybe tomatoes.
We need to start pushing back bigtime. When a politician appears to give a speech, we need to drown him out with boos. Seriously. This is the only way these people are going to get the message. They need to understand that contrary to what they hear in the newspaper, the people are tired of being fleeced.
Show up and disagree!

I’m glad that whole “new tone” thing is working out so well.

Joe-logic. Saying harsh things is impermissible, but punching someone in the face is just fine.

I say kick liberals in the bal*…um, wallet. Reduce taxable income as much as possible so they get as little a possible.
But yeah, I’d kick a Liberal when he’s down nowadays. In the face. With steel toed boots.

I was surprised this a.m. by how affable ol’ Morning Joe went full-hater on the industry he’s a part of: Political Entertainment. Couldn’t believe what I’d heard till the second time he said ‘Punch [unnamed radio/blogger bullies] in the face’. Jeez, who peed in his Wheaties?
During the primaries, Mr. Scarborough had spoken for months about certain “House Republicans” when he was in Congress, who plotted to get rid of Newt Gingrich. When his scorn could no longer be hidden, he finally revealed that he was one of the mutineers. Today during his rant, he left it to Willie Geist and Mike Barnicle to throw out the names, “Glenn Beck” and “Rush Limbaugh”, while not himself stating who he was talking about.
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on December 10, 2012 at 12:43 PM
Hey Joe, how do you kill 11 million people?
tom daschle concerned on December 10, 2012 at 12:49 PM
Liberals like to blame Limbaugh and Beck for any losses every two years. Ironically the lefties tools he shares eggnogs with every holiday, Odonnel, Sharpton and Shultz, are ten times more caustic and infinitely more uninformed.
Bensonofben on December 10, 2012 at 12:51 PM
Not to mention maybe half of Limbleuagh and Blech’s audiences is people tuning in purely to laugh at the crazy old man. Unfortunately the same is not true of people like O’Dumbbell and Dullton…people actually believe their propaganda in large numbers.
MelonCollie on December 10, 2012 at 12:55 PM
5 out of 7 days every week, Joe Scarborough acts like a petulant piece of sh1t.
blatantblue on December 10, 2012 at 12:58 PM
attaboy, joe. it took you a while to figure out.
sesquipedalian on December 10, 2012 at 1:01 PM
Listen, Bucko; you punch some of us in the face and we back off… to get a clear shot.
“I was in fear for my life or seriously bodily harm and I acted to stop the aggressive behavior.” is the phrase they taught us in my Concealed Handgun License class.
michaelo on December 10, 2012 at 1:01 PM
And just think, it took him that long to figure out liberal propaganda. How long will it take him to figure out anything else?
MelonCollie on December 10, 2012 at 1:02 PM
Scarborough gets paid a good amount of money to play a conservative on a “news network” run by the far left, right?
Joey24007 on December 10, 2012 at 1:04 PM
This is kind of true.
Joey24007 on December 10, 2012 at 1:07 PM
So would you say that you prefer that most people remain poor and in misery while a rich socialist elite rules over them?
Galt2009 on December 10, 2012 at 1:14 PM
Sadly, yes.
Yep. The idea is that as many people as possible get rich. Sort of a rising-tide-lifts-all-boats kinda thing.
GWB on December 10, 2012 at 1:17 PM
It certainly is. Just look at Scarbourough, Frum, and of course the innumerable RINO politicians who make million pretending to be conservative.
Doomberg on December 10, 2012 at 1:20 PM
*make millions
Doomberg on December 10, 2012 at 1:20 PM
Do you not get the irony of Scarborough’s statement? Conservatism is indeed a “racket” (system of organizing society) for a lot of people (like all Americans) to get very, very rich (rewards those who work hard).
GeorgiaBuckeye on December 10, 2012 at 1:21 PM
I think Joe is confused. The only bullies around are the socialists (democrats, liberals and progressives) and their ignorant army (e.g. sesquipedalian).
The socialist bullies seek to destroy anyone and anything that doesn’t toe the socialist party line.
They attack speech, they attack religion (except Islam which they protect), they attack success, they attack anything and anyone and their propaganda arm (of which Joe is part) protects them.

Ann Coulter is the worst, IMO.

…yeah right…and liberalism is a racket for a lot of people to blame every one and everything but themselves because they can’t quite cut the mustard.
BigWyo on December 10, 2012 at 1:36 PM
I agree, he’s not very conservative in some ways, but regardless, he is right that some of the conservative pundits are just trying to sell books and are not genuine messengers of conservative beliefs. Ann Coulter, for example, has done a lot more harm than good to the conservative cause and all to sell books. I don’t believe that she truly believes a lot of the acerbic crap she has written, she is just pushing buttons, following a formula, but when the rubber meets the road she supports big-government, NE statist corporatists and the like.
FloatingRock on December 10, 2012 at 1:36 PM
I have little patience with anyone, right or left, who makes millions by tossing blatant propaganda to the lowest denominator like slop to pigs.
It’s a mockery of the entire system not unlike casinos – you make your money by the ignorance of the masses.
MelonCollie on December 10, 2012 at 1:36 PM
I don’t watch Joe’s show and disagree with him a lot over time, but I think he is a more genuine conservative than Ann Coulter, who pretends to be an arch-conservative, but isn’t.
FloatingRock on December 10, 2012 at 1:38 PM
This is clearly a zinger aimed at Sarah Palin.
Joe will never truly understand conservatism.
UltimateBob on December 10, 2012 at 1:38 PM
True, but that isn’t really saying a whole lot.
UltimateBob on December 10, 2012 at 1:40 PM
Considering how long that frothing lunatic was considered a hero of the right, you’ll pardon me if I take that statement with a grain of salt or two.
MelonCollie on December 10, 2012 at 1:55 PM
Don’t get me started on “conservative” punditry. We should be able to vote on who represents us in the media.
