Conservatives need a name change
The time has long since passed – perhaps since the era of the Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society – when there was anything “liberal” about modern “liberals.”
For years, it has been conservatives who bore the banner of liberty and freedom, and who deserved the term “liberal,” which after all is derived from the latin “liber,” which means “free.”…
In newspaper reports from overseas, every brutish bad guy is a “conservative,” every enlightened reformer a “liberal.” When, in some forlorn foreign land, the nasty old guard pushes back against the forces of democracy, it’s said to be the “conservatives” trying to hang onto power. Even the most doctrinaire of the Soviet Communists were known as the “conservatives.”

Fine but if you get rid of 90% of the GOP what are you going to replace them with?
CorporatePiggy on December 10, 2012 at 12:11 PM
The problem is if you tell them they won’t ever actually get anything from voting from you, they will either find someone else who supports them or stop voting. That’s what I mean when I say the establishment needs to compromise with the base. They must at least make token attempts to service their coalition’s needs, or the coalition will fall apart.
I didn’t mean to imply you were an amnesty supporter, my apologies on that. I was trying to make a larger point.

Even in an America intolerant of Palindromes (my fave: The “first man” introducing himself to Eve—-Madam I’m Adam), who wouldn’t like a friendly Party called BOB (or if you like, the Boy Oh Boy Party)?
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on December 10, 2012 at 12:21 PM
Boy Oh Boy, might work, who doesn’t love acronyms? Just don’t mention Palindromes.
Cindy Munford on December 10, 2012 at 12:26 PM
You mean.. like ‘The Tea Party’?
Who could be against a group called the Tea Party? Who could be against balancing the budget?
No, Keith. Conservatives need balls.
faraway on December 10, 2012 at 12:32 PM
We do not have the same media as before just as we don’t have the same education system as before.
When Bengazi is covered up by today’s media we have a serious problem.
The tea party in another time would have been celebrated but today’s media made it racist.
The simple fact is that our message does not get through AT ALL to the majority of our own country. Every problem we have stems from that root problem.
GardenGnome on December 10, 2012 at 12:36 PM
Yeah, the first thing they need to get through their head is that National Communist Party – the “Democratic” party is going to demonize them through their media organ NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO.
They need to accept that fact of life and not let it bother them because we have our media alternatives.
We have to expand those alternatives to compete with the Commies.

The Conservationist Party.
Covers all angles.

Ooooh…Just gonna quote what James Brown sang about ‘Static’: Don’t start none, there won’t be none.
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on December 10, 2012 at 12:50 PM
I want to make a couple of points related to this:
(1) the media did not decide to become liberal in an attempt to pay heed to their own political leanings. All media corporations are businesses with a profit incentive (and if they become unprofitable, they either get acquired or go into bankruptcy). The very fact that these companies survive (and some like Fox thrive spectacularly) means that there is a market for what they are trying to sell. Blaming “media”, in that sense, is equivalent to liberals railing against “big corporations” – they are all entities which thrive in the free market.
(2) some posters commented on how so many Republican politicians are insipid interviewers, or how they cannot make a strong PR point. The problem may be that the core ideology of us fiscal conservatives is to have a very small government (preferably with term limits) which does not hinder free markets. Any capable politician, therefore, may feel that the Dem platform gives them more resources and bigger fiefdom if you will (no conservative should assume any human is expected to be completely altruistic, specially not politicians). Hence, the Donks tend to get more “spin-savvy” politicians who look good in the media, while the GOP gets more individualists with specific policy focus who don’t want to stick around just for reasons of seniority.
/Rant off

Hey now! My Fair Lady, you and Cindy are stirring up
trouble again mentioning that EVIL PALIN WOMAN!!
I’ll see your James Brown, and raise you with
“Chain of Fools” by Aretha.
ToddPA on December 10, 2012 at 12:55 PM
Hmm…Your “Chain of Fools” does trump my “Static”. You might even say my selection seems to Palin comparison!
*ducks*

If Romney had run on the big issues between conservatives and libs, such as individual freedom, opportunity and liberty, he may have won. Instead, he let himself get sucked into a game of small ball. And Obama is the master of that.
petefrt on December 10, 2012 at 1:08 PM
Shhhhhh! One more mention, as in Beetlejuice, and they (you know who I mean) will descend on us like locusts.
Cindy Munford on December 10, 2012 at 1:16 PM
How often did I post on HA that the leftists are never truly liberal or progressive?
They stole the terms while they love dic tators.
Obama invented the Arab ‘Spring’ in order to further sharia and the decline of the US.
The leftists are not for liberty, freedom and independence. They are for being Looters, like the Obamas, exploiting the stupid moochers in modern day plantations, for votes only.
The Rs are just plain stupid.
The Cs are an extinct super minority.
Schadenfreude on December 10, 2012 at 1:20 PM
No what happened was that liberals for decades have gone into positions of power in the media and educational system and then started only hiring liberals.
You CAN NOT get hired in a top media position unless you are liberal. Conservatives have been rooted out for decades insisting there is no war going on.
There has been a war, there have been purgings. You do not get 90%+ of any industry belonging to one party without coordination.
We need to take over or replace at least one major network or everything will always be twisted against us. We were able to win in the past but enough children have been pushed through indoctrination that it doesn’t matter any more.
GardenGnome on December 10, 2012 at 1:22 PM

Ronald Reagan is now being retconned into a hardcore moderate; far to the left of “radical right-wingers” like Bush, McCain and Romney. The media are feverishly desecrating his headstone to read: “The Great Compromiser.”
Reagan didn’t nitpick. He had no qualms whatsoever about calling liberals Socialists, and attacking Socialized Medicine for exactly what it was.
Republicans had a huge weapon ready to attack Obama, and the whole Democrat Party, on their most unpopular policy. And nominating Mitt Romney effectively used it — to shoot ourselves in the foot.
