How the UN could ruin the Internet
Other proposals have a similarly power-hungry bent. One is a call to individually identify all Internet users — ideal for an autocrat’s retribution streak and surely on the wish list of every regime that sees the Internet as a metaphysical threat.
Politics aside, the most insidious proposal is one that nations can try on their own, and yet the countries are still seeking a U.N. imprimatur. It’s a proposal, championed by some African countries and India, that introduces a new revenue stream by imposing what amounts to a tax on Web publishers.
That scheme would have a chilling effect. As it stands, I pay for broadband — the door-to-door Internet pipe that gets, say, a Netflix video to my screen. Under the proposed scheme, Netflix would be subject to a new fee if the amount of data it streams (because I ask for it) exceeds some carrier-set bandwidth limit. That would be like sending Netflix the bill when you go over your smartphone Internet plan. It would definitely cause Netflix to rethink a few things.

These bureaucrat pigs do nothing but think up ways to get us to pay for their living large. I’m sick of it.

The Leftists (either here or abroad) will eventually ruin the internet. It’s only a matter of time.
We’re currently living through the “golden age” of the internet. Enjoy it while it lasts.

When I think of priorities for the next conservative government, I think of things like abolishing EPA, DoEd, DoE, and defunding our enemy the United Nations.

… big bird.

Yeah, big bird too. State sponsored media is out. No question.

My bet is the internet and talk radio, and probably even FNC cable, will have to fight for their/our life in the next four years. We think the Second Amendment is under attack. Wait ’til you see their attack on the First Amendment, coming soon.
We cannot afford to have squishes in positions of leadership during these times. Boehner seems like a good person, a very decent man. But he is in very deep over his head nowadays. Boehner is #1 to be replaced for someone who knows how successfully to defend the Constitution, individual liberty and limited government.

Deep packet inspection is the real threat here.

May they all bleed to death, in a very slow and painful way.
These are all dictators, not freedom lovers.
In the meanwhile I know for sure that leprosy exists in India and they don’t treat the patients, out of fear to not be exposed. Die yourseves, you god damned potentates, and all who sustain you. Yes, you know who you are. Suffocate and combust, you slave-lovers.

There cannot be any source of information that’s free from leftist control – truth is like sunlight to their vampirism.

Everybody chill.
It’s the internet. Nobody has control of of it or ever will. This is all just posturing.
For every silly dictator or left-wing control freak that wants to control the ‘net, there are 12,000 programmers and rebels that will take them down faster than it took me to write this post.
The cat is out of the bag for good and the rats are scurrying. That’s a good thing.

Not if the U.N. would take it over.
They hate freedom. It is a big threat to them.
May they all die a slow and painful death, along with all who sustain them.
Schadenfreude on December 9, 2012 at 10:09 PM
This.
There will probably be multiple internet networks eventually.
Certainly as the one we have now becomes more and more regulated and the technology becomes cheaper and cheaper.

You really need to stop with this “death to all who do not see as I see it ” bit. Your no better than the dictators, Islamist, ect ect…
