Assuming that he’ll put his own interests and the interests of Latinos far ahead of the interests of the U.S. as a whole is usually a very safe bet.

Rubio’s comments come a day after former President George W. Bush told an audience in Dallas that new immigration legislation needed to be approached “with a benevolent spirit.”

Hand our country over to lawbreaking Democrats who support parties with names like “La Raza” with a smile on your face….

So…..Hispanics voted for Ears in ’08 and got nothing for 3+ years until another election is coming up and Ears throws them a bone to show “He’s down” with Hispanics. Hispanics vote for Ears again and now he’s MIA. SHOCKING!

Hispanics are as dumb as blacks when it comes to voting for liberal policies and politicians. So long as they get their welfare checks, the Demoncrats get a pass on everything from destroying their family system to letting entire cities degenerate into drug-ridden ruins where crime runs rampant.

They have no one to blame but themselves (really any group) for falling for the BS of Ears during the campaign. It’s amazing how on Nov 7th womens issues suddenly stopped being covered 24/7. I guess we solved that one to somehow. So should they be shocked if their issue stops getting attention?

Rubio’s insistence that lawmakers start with smaller pieces of immigration reform rather than hold out for a single compromise puts him at odds with Senate Democrats and White House officials who have said that any immigration bill next year will have to create a pathway to legal status for most illegal immigrants already in the U.S.

Rubio said that the party needs to change the way it talks about immigrants.

“We’re not talking about plagues of locusts, we’re talking about people,” he said.

“Unfortunately I think the Republican Party for many years allowed itself to be positioned as the anti-illegal immigration party,” said Rubio. “What we really need to be is the pro-legal immigration party,” he said.

Rubio’s comments come a day after former President George W. Bush told an audience in Dallas that new immigration legislation needed to be approached “with a benevolent spirit.”

“Even if it’s watered down and does not grant citizenship, if it stops the deportations and doesn’t exclude them from becoming citizens, [then] yes,” he would support Rubio’s plan, Gutierrez told Fox News in May.

But Gutierrez, who sees a historic opening in the next Congress to pass reforms, no longer wants a piecemeal approach and is calling for sweeping changes that would address all of the estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States — an approach he says the election validated.

“The call wasn’t to do a little bit,” he said. “The call was to get it done.”

Gutierrez is one of the leading voices on this for Spanish-language media. He’s Obama’s point man. The public-tussle is a farce meant to agitate the right. Rep Gutierrez knows how important the mini-amnesty was to children of illegal-immigrants this past year.

This is a flank attack on Rubio. And it’s meant to further shame the right.

Why let them define the agenda? Allowing Rubio to be independent of voice and not beholden to party-extremists would declaw people like Gutierrez.

It would be nice if Marco Rubio was seen as outspoken on immigration issues. By neutering him on immigration the Tea Party reinforced all of the negative anti-Hispanic stereotypes about the GOP.
