“It’s too bad the court doesn’t have the authority to sterilize”
Judge Tim Boyle of Racine County said he was disappointed he didn’t have the legal power to force the man to be sterilized and the prosecutor told Judge Boyle he did have the ability to restrict Curtis from having additional children, unless he could show ability to pay, as a condition of probation. Boyle agreed with adding the condition to the probation.
“It’s too bad the court doesn’t have the authority to sterilize,” Racine County Circuit Court Judge Tim Boyle said at a hearing.
The prosecutor cited a 2001 case that was appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. In that case, a 2001 Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling found that a judge could order people not to procreate unless they keep up to date on support payments.

It used to do exactly that. At least 50,000 US citizens were forcibly sterilized based on the almost universally accepted science (at the time) of eugenics.
Oliver Wendel Holmes once commented that his decision to sterilize a woman was one of his favorite cases.

By my calculation, that’s 16 likely 0bama voters right there.

I missed the eugenics angle here, please inform my ignorance.

The basic science of removing defects from the gene pool hasn’t changed. We don’t do it because it’s wrong and immoral and we’re not animals. In fact it’s very effectively used on animal populations but that’s because ethics and morality are not big concerns when dealing with our food chain.
Sterilization of criminals was a completely different matter with neither scientific nor ethical approval. Similarly with sterilization of African American women.

Easiest way to breed out bad traits is to sterilize those with bad traits so they cannot procreate.

From the article:
No what the case shows is how stupid child support laws are. It is likely that every one of the mothers of the children knew that the guy was no good but they had sex with him anyway and chose to bear the children of a man with no character. Does the man have visitation rights with the children? Does the man have regular input into their lives? Do any of the women have children by other men? Was he married to any of these women?
Abortion devalues human life, but I’m sure the judge would have been quite displeased if the man had ‘pressured’ any of these women into having an abortion.

9 children, 6 women.
Means some of the women had more than one child with this loser.
Respect yourselves more than that, ladies.

AFAIK she was a fan of aborting black babies as an inferior race. Or if not inferior, then a really good idea.

Why is the guy on probation, then, and not just in jail? WTFF?
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on December 7, 2012 at 4:22 PM
Except what people consider a defect is largely subjective.
melle1228 on December 7, 2012 at 4:23 PM
I don’t think the man should be punished alone. This idiotic women dropped their eggs for him. YOu want a supportive partner to take care of your children; find one.. Stop let stupid be your fertilizer..
melle1228 on December 7, 2012 at 4:24 PM
That doesn’t account for bad behavior though. That’s what the lash is for.
I don’t know what race this clown is, but he should be bullwhipped.

If we’re going to have a welfare state, then people who force their bastards onto the public dole should be punished. His right to procreate ends at my wallet, so to speak.
If he can’t provide for his own children, they should be placed in families that can provide for them, or in orphanages. He has set lose nine future convicts who will grow up and die dependent on the state. Poo on him.

My bad. I thought you were saying you didn’t know what sterilization had to do with eugenics.
Fezzik on December 7, 2012 at 4:31 PM
That might have the effect of driving the black birth rate to near zero.
BobMbx on December 7, 2012 at 4:33 PM
Sterilize them all. The country has voted for the end of individual liberty. It’s reapin’ time.

Seriously…
Here’s your EBT card, now go get in line.
BigWyo on December 7, 2012 at 5:45 PM
And that is supposed to be a bad thing? Forced sterilization would solve most, if not all, systemic problems not the least of which would be our debt. We have seen the result of allowing people to breed at will regardless of their ability to support those children. It would also put a big dent into the legions of the low-information voter.
