Rhode Island’s blue civil war
Rhode Island’s blue-on-blue showdown is heating up. Famed litigator David Boies is taking a 96 percent pay cut to represent the state against recalcitrant public sector unions. The New York Times reports:
“Mr. Boies became involved, he said, because he was convinced that Rhode Island’s pension troubles were just the tip of a $5 trillion iceberg of unsecured retirement promises to the nation’s millions of public workers. “This is something that can cripple state and municipal governments at a time when the federal government is, more and more, cutting back on the services it provides,” he said.” …
As the blue social model decays, the coalition that was once united behind it is becoming increasingly splintered and parochial. Boies, known for representing Al Gore, waging antitrust battles against Microsoft, and fighting California’s Proposition 8 in federal court, has impeccable bona fides as a liberal Democrat. But in the face of economic realities, he and other blue liberals are being forced to make fundamental choices about their values and goals.

If we had a balanced budget clause in the Constitution and a prohibition on the Fed printing money, this would be happening now at the national level.
This is why Obama is so desperate to get control of the debt ceiling. The blue-on-blue fight can be postponed indefinitely as long as the borrowing continues.

“For God’s shake, don’t do it Snake!”
“My name is Plissken.”
I am kind of rooting for the judge to rule for the unions on this one.

Democrats have values?
I know they have goals, such as permanently destroying the GOP and “fundamentally transforming” America into a destitute third world sh!thole. but values?

A contract, if after the fact is found to have been entered into through a corrupt relationship, can be voided.
A corrupt relationship is exactly what you have with public employee unions. Give us a raise and we will contribute to your election and vote for you. Rinse and repeat.

The states can borrow foreign money as well. The only difference is that the states can’t print their own money, like the fed can.
Anyway, as Big Government implodes, as it always tends to do (without real free market reforms), sit back and watch the Progressive factions go at each others throats.

Yeah … he’s an idiot. I believe he loses almost all of his court cases, too. Microsoft was never a monopoly of any sort. What they did to that company was unconscionable.
This is another case of Kissinger’s, “It’s a shame they can’t both lose,” and lose painfully.

No, can’t be – if they had values they would be Republicans.
