It’s actually just a straight up insurance fraud abetted by local government and the media (who are mostly based in the NE).

Many businesses and homeowners have policies that do not include flood damage and or hurricane damage.

Calling it a really big storm nullifies the underwriter’s argument.

Remember, these are Blue States.

Maybe FEMA can cover 100% of the cleanup cost of all that slobber, too.

I kinda “get” how Sandy was more Frankenstorm than your average hurricane, what with its freakish combo-plate of torrential rain, monstrous waves, gale force winds tearing in from the Atlantic, plus 2 feet of Canadian snow descending and dumped on WV/MD/PA.
