Your fed tax dollars are being spent on zombie-apocalypse preparation
The above film clip is not a “behind the scenes” of the latest Dawn of the Dead straight-to-DVD ripoff. It is the actual footage of first responder seminar in San Diego, California. The Department of Homeland Security deemed the event an allowable expense, enabling participants to use federal grant funding to pay to go.
That’s according to “Safety at Any Price: Assessing the Impact of Homeland Security Spending in U.S. Cities” a report compiled by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who chairs the investigations subcommittee of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee. The report focuses on grants made by the DHS and the Urban Areas Security Initiative. Coburn says the report shows that DHS was “directing scarce dollars to low-priority project and low-risk areas.”

Sigh! While it seems silly preparing for a Zombie Apocalypse actually tests to see if an entity is ready for multiple simultaneous crisis events.
You have a biohazard event
You have a mass movement event (refugees, displaced persons)
You have a rule of law breakdown event
You have a critical infrastructure breakdown event (what happens when the city catches fire and the fire fighters have all been bitten? Or the trash guys won’t come into work or the sewage plant shuts down)
You have a mass causality event
You have a mass evac event
You have a mil-civ event (do you declare martial law? What happens if the mayor says yes, but governor say no)
Multiple stressors all at once to find out what is working, what needs improvement, and it’s fun.

Actually, a lot of the “Zombie Apocalypse” stuff is used because the training groups can’t get away with planning for a Muslim uprising, or for any other group. It’s a PC-craptacular world of their own invention, but it does allow them to do any number of scenarios without having to worry about offending this or that group.

When you think about it, deciding to maintaining rule of law, infrastructure repair, disease containment, and gunning down large crowds of unarmed, formerly peaceable civilians are really pretty similar activities…
Oh, wait, I just remembered: That last thing – the one federal agancies are training for here – is very very very very COMPLETELY different in every possible way, and has absolutely no conceivable connection to any other potential human activity.
But, aside from that, both you and the federal government aren’t being crazy and stupid at all. In the past, genocide has always proven to be the only workable solution to every problem a Socialist government inevitably creates. The only “cost” is that it can never be even remotely justified except to completely braindead sociopaths. So, as far as liberals are concerned, it’s basically free.

Okay, Someone’s taking the crazy train all the way to paranoiaville, but just pretending that you’re actually rational let’s address your concerns. All of this is called Crisis Management. You can find online a bunch of crisis management plans that are for Universities towns and counties. Pretty dull stuff for the most part, just a series of checklists, none of which say “gun down the Tea Party people.” Israelis do a lot of Crisis Management drills, for obvious reasons.
Mass slaughter is actually the worst solution, even if you can get the people to pull the trigger, now you have to deal with a panicked crowd (assuming you’re talking about peace loving civilians) running everywhere to include away. Even with automatic weapons you’re going to have a tough time killing everyone. And word will get out about what happened, and now you’ve created an insurgency.
And who do you get to clean up the mess? If you don’t you have a biohazard event, and vector control problem.
So back to what I stated – Biohazard event, you need containment, a way to screen infected and non infected people, triage levels, procedures for moving people from where they are to where the doctors are. Nothing sinister here.
Refugees and displaced persons – you need to move them to an area that is safe, where food and shelter are available. Like a HS gym. Lots of issues about how to feed where are supplies and logistics, transportation issues. Nothing sinister here.
Infrastructure loss – what happens if the firefighters (or any other key group) are dead, bitten by zombies, quit, sick due to cholera? What’s the backup plan who fights the fires, how do you coordinate with the next town or county. Nothing sinister
I could go on but I think you have the point. Nothing sinister, no black helicopters and hidden agendas.
Just a whole lot of “what if” checklists, and sometimes you get to have fun doing it.

All I did was point out the blantantly obvious: that your “solution” (you know the one the federal agents in the video, that the voices in your head told you doesn’t exist, were holding a rather elaborate training session for) was the worst possible one for each and every single solitary “example” you cited.

Not as silly as it sounds. Just assume the welfare money has run out, the zombies are the “Rage” type (ie; normal human capabilities but rabid and out of their mind mad) and substitute libtards like molester for actors.
Presto, you have a perfectly realistic scenario where you can practice everything from rescuing stranded citizens to trying to whittle down the Zed mob.

In many ways it’s the opposite. Without a constant infusion of money, there would be zero growth of the welfare zombie population. And with less drug money available, the current insanity levels would actually go down, not up.
But all of that pales into insignificance compared to the most critical difference of all: historically,
