Centrist Dems lying low on cliff negotiations to avoid 2014 backlash
These centrists have declined to endorse Obama’s opening offer to raise taxes by $1.6 trillion, twice the size of the tax increase most of them voted for in July. …
“What I’m doing on all of those fiscal cliff-type issues is just waiting to see what package we put together,” said Sen. Mark Pryor (D), who faces reelection in Republican-leaning Arkansas in 2014. …
Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), who faces voters in 2014, declined to endorse the substance of the plan Secretary Timothy Geithner circulated on Capitol Hill last week. …
Sen. Mary Landrieu, another Democrat up for reelection in a red state, Louisiana, said Boehner’s offer “is better than no proposal.”

“Centrist Dems”? What’s that? Is that one of those mythical creatures, like a unicorn?

When will the idiots in the GOP start running some ads in these people’s states demanding thay they take a stand on Obama’s job-killing tax increase and fiscal insanity?
Over 100 Democrats in the House have signed a pledge to vote against ANY reductions in spending for entitlements. Why won’t Mark Warner sign this?

Comrade Obama is bothered by party members who decline to denounce the evil bourgeoisie.
darwin on December 5, 2012 at 5:41 PM
Of course not – they’re led by John Bo(eh)ner.
Steve Eggleston on December 5, 2012 at 5:54 PM
They ain’t centrists. They voted for 0bamacare.

Is there anything other than a low lying Demonrat? Or, wait is there anything other than a Demonrat that doesn’t lie? I am conflicted – oh wait you said lying low – my mistake. /

Cowards…”wait and see”? GMAB. Unable to find the testicular fortitude to lead and make their own feelings known, they hide behind others.
Boehner is a fool, but at least he put something out there, as bad as it was. These guys are lowest of the low.

LOL! It always cracks me up when I see the ridiculous term “centrist democrats” – there is no such thing.
Pork-Chop on December 5, 2012 at 6:27 PM
Pryor and Warner are nervous? But how can that possibly be, when all of the blame is going to Republicans?
Gingotts on December 5, 2012 at 6:28 PM
It’s always about them..strategy for keeping their power, jobs and benefits in 2014. Screw whats best for the country.

“Centrist Dems” = Democrats who know their next election is not guaranteed.
They’ll vote for whatever Obama wants if they think they have cover for it, but they’ll abandon him in a heartbeat if they think it might hurt their chances at being elected again.
I think the more accurate term here is, “vulnerable Dems.”

They are centrist democrats until Reid or Pelosi give them their marching orders.
Wigglesworth on December 5, 2012 at 7:03 PM
Silly dems. Didn’t they get the memo? Only republicans can get the blame. You’ll be fine.

Because he is in the Senate

The Dems in the Senate, led by Reid’s example, are passive aggressives. They rely on Reid to sling the insults and baseless lies.
onlineanalyst on December 5, 2012 at 7:43 PM
Call them out publicly. Make them own it.
CurtZHP on December 5, 2012 at 8:03 PM
They aren’t lying low. They are following the orders of their leaders
Reid blocks Senate vote on Obama’s deficit-reduction plan
They are working with Reid to put all the blame on the GOP. The WH offer is a super size burger of the tax on the Mitches that Obama promised to his base. WH and Senate need the GOP to reject it, all on their ownsome. That is why these so called Centrist DEMs are holding back, to put the blame on the GOP, not because they have qualms
