Video: The economy is “poised to take off,” says Obama
During a Bloomberg News interview this afternoon, President Obama signaled that the American economy was ready to “take off” provided Congress didn’t lead the nation into another fight about the nation’s debt limit.
Obama insisted that his plan to rebuild roads and bridges, combined with the strengthening housing movement, and improving consumer confidence were signs that the economy was about to improve in spite of economic “weaknesses” in Europe and Asia.

He means it, but not in any traditional understanding of what “economy” and “takes off” means.

This is all about framing the narrative that the reason the economy crapped out is due to the Republicans, and the media is working overtime to make it happen.

Hey remember when Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling when Bush was president and called driving up the national debt unpatriotic? Those were the days, Baby.

Did Obysmal give the signal with his middle finger?
onlineanalyst on December 4, 2012 at 6:48 PM
He’s got 4 more years to make it happen, but he hasn’t done anything that could make it more likely. He still thinks that it all comes from the government despite the evidence of his own senses.
Here’s a thought experiment. How about we go back a month and announce that Romney won and see if anything had changed by now?
He’s betting on the Bush Tax Cuts disappearing and the implementation of Obamacare to spark the economy, but his jobs plan seems intended only to create short-term construction jobs. He could have had that by building the Canadian Oil Pipeline and by allowing development of the shale and methane locked in the rocks under federal lands. He’s already shown however that he is more committed to the environmentalists than he is to workers, businesses or the economy.
Call me in 3.5 years. Anybody taking odds?
flataffect on December 4, 2012 at 6:49 PM
I think he means “take off” as in, “I’m about to take off from my job to vacation in Hawaii. Hold my calls.”

And how, if the media censors the GOP message is the truth supposed to get out to the low info voter?
LincolntheHun on December 4, 2012 at 7:10 PM
Obama’s sole interest in a healthy economy seems to be how much he can take and redistribute to others in a “fair” way. Like a grifter looking for the biggest mark, or Willie Sutton robbing banks because “that’s where the money is”.
Where in Obama’s calculus do people work hard and smart to create wealth, to earn their own money? Obama is the biggest slavemaster the world has ever seen, putting us $6 trillion in debt so far, so that we don’t work for ourselves, but to pay off or service the debt. Not to mention the taxes he levies on people who work. We’ve become slaves.
What’s a slavemaster’s interest in the well-being of his slaves? Certainly not how the slave is able to care for himself. The primary interest must be in how much work the slave can do for the slavemaster. That’s ALL Obama is interested in, regarding the economy. Not that it represents people doing well for themselves, but people working for Obama, and Obama taking the fruits of that work and spreading it around, as he sees fit.
It’s ironic to me that this is the outlook of a black man. Obama is half black, as I understand. He wants to be the biggest slavemaster and then we are all his slaves. Doesn’t he see anything wrong with that?

The local Hawaiian economy is “poised to take off” when obama, FLOTUS FATASS, some 25 family members and friends and the royal entourage of hundreds arrives in the state on Dec. 17th for their 20 day, mega-million dollar taxpayer-funded. luxury vacation …

The economy will grow if and only if people get a payoff for working, which is something Obama doesn’t understand and I don’t think he’ll ever understand. All Obama cares about is that the federal government gets its payoff. He doesn’t care about people working for the fruits of their labors. He doesn’t even believe in it. He’s a socialist.
Paul-Cincy on December 4, 2012 at 8:57 PM
He’s 100% right the economy is poised to take off.
Unfortunately, it will never transition from poised to actual take-off with him still in office.

Sorry, but the American people deserve to get an economic depression hammered up their wazoos good and hard. Any populace so stupid and degraded as to vote a lying, ill-willed imbecile like Obama into office not once but twice deserves every catastrophe it gets.
