Rahm Emanuel likens Obama to Lincoln
Speaking at Northwestern University on Friday, Emanuel said, “And I think the president’s experience as somebody who was a community organizer on the South Side, dealing with the steel workers who had lost their jobs and lost any possibility of having a job in their industry mid-life, how they were going to retrain, how they were going to get themselves back on their feet and how they were going to value themselves, was a guiding principle for him.”
He continued, “And I think that’s essential because, in the Oval Office, at the end of the day, all you have are your values, your judgment, and your ability to see a clear road where everybody just sees fog.” …
“If you haven’t seen the movie ‘Lincoln,’ and if I didn’t try to illuminate it, please go see the movie ‘Lincoln’ because that’s another way where all these cross currents come at you and you have to make sense of that conflict, and that conflicting currents and equities,” he said.

Must be nice to have someone like Rahm–otherwise, That One would have to compare himself to Lincoln, like West!

I think of them together more as a “celebrated diversity” duo.

Except Lincoln, you know, actually accomplished something worthwhile.

Wait, maybe “him” should be capitalized?

In Lincoln’s day the actors wanted to kill him. In Obama’s day all the actors want to take turns trying to inseminate him. Big difference if you ask me.
HotAirian on December 4, 2012 at 10:27 AM
That’s more like it.
It will, in the near term, since leftists in academia are writing the history books as we speak.
But down the road, when thinking people actually look at 0bama’s record without the sycophantic media filter, and the truth is revealed about all these scandals, that ought to change.
UltimateBob on December 4, 2012 at 10:36 AM
One emancipated people, the other enslaved them. But, I have no doubt Obama’s delusions of grandeur include some bizarro comparisons to Lincoln. Just something those whitehouse.gov petitioners should keep in mind if they ever thought a peaceful withdrawal is possible.
The Count on December 4, 2012 at 10:41 AM
Rahm Emanuel’s claim just shows us how ignorant the Left is about history.
0bama wants to enslave us all to the gov’t. Not quite Lincolnesque.

They both had mothers descended from slave owners.
They were both endorsed by the Chicago Tribune.

Lincoln? I’m thinking more like Nero.

Oh really? I didn’t realize that Lincoln was a foreign-born, mulatto muslim and sworn enemy of the United States – I sure am glad that we have democrats to re-imagine history for us.

Maybe he meant this Lincoln.
Mr. D on December 4, 2012 at 11:42 AM
I think what bothers me most about the comparison of Obama to Lincoln is the possibility that the Left is planning on Civil War and making conservatives out to be the enemy while painting Obama as the heroic figure who defeats the enemy and preserves the union.
Obama’s political career was launched in the living room of his “Family Friend”… who just so happens to be a Revolutionary Communist whose office door was decorated with pictures of Mumia Abu-Jamal, Che Guevara and Malcolm X, and who anticipated the genocide of 25 million people.
So, is Rahm predicting that Obama will be President during times of Civil War, and will 25 million capitalists be killed in the process?

To compare Lincoln to Obama is utterly insane.
SC.Charlie on December 4, 2012 at 12:05 PM
The country was already deeply divided over the issue of slavery and the roll of the federal government before Lincoln became president. Lincoln’s great accomplishment was that he preserved the Union and ended the era of human slavery. We are still divided over the roll of the federal government in our lives. Obama’s followers believe in an ever greater roll of federal power over our individual lives.
