Paul Ryan: “We’re nowhere”
Paul Ryan addressed the fiscal cliff crisis on Tuesday, telling a Milwaukee radio host: “We’re nowhere. We’re farther than where we started.” …
“He took 40 minutes to reject the deal,” Ryan said of Obama’s dismissal of a compromise offered by Republicans on the fiscal cliff on Monday. …
“That leads us to conclude he’s trying to get us to our fiscal cliff,” Ryan said. “He doesn’t want to come to the middle.” …
“The President’s not really negotiating,” Ryan said. “He’s just sort of moving the goal posts, rejecting offers.”

To Hades with all.

It will be interesting to see if either side blinks, and just how bad the cliff really is.
Not fun, but it will be interesting.

Let. It. Burn.

Why negotiate? The “fiscal cliff” is just a tiny “bump in the road” compared to America’s future (economically and otherwise) under obama. Don’t negotiate – Don’t capitulate – FIGHT!

Of all people, Paul Ryan is in the best position to put out a clear message about this. Where’s that YouTube channel? Or would that steal Boehner’s thunder?
I really don’t see the GOP as anything more than the empty chair that is Obama.

Republicans are the best presents for Democrats. The crazy thing is that our President isn’t really smart.

What more do you want?
The R’s are speaking truth to power, but the media refuses to report it.
And you beat them up for not being able to force the media to do its job.
LincolntheHun on December 4, 2012 at 5:59 PM
Much depends on the media getting what Republicans say out. For the most part they simply ignore them.
Probably the best way is to spend millions of dollars running ads on TV. Stations rarely refuse ad money.

STOP. NEGOTIATING. Obama wants the sequester to take place, all this posturing is just gamemanship.
Really only 2 choices for the House GOP at this point:
1. Walk away and let the sequester take place. (L.I.B. Option)
or
2. Call Obama’s bluff and pass a clean bill extending the tax cuts on people making less than $250k only. (Minimize Damage option)
None of the options are good, but Boehner & the establishment GOP really only have themselves to thank for thid mess. The Debt Ceiling Deal in 2011 was pure idiocy.

You know, this person does a pretty fine job of getting the word out without the media.
So I’m asking – where’s the effort?
As for the R’s speaking truth to power, the hell they are. They’re talking out both sides of their mouth with “No Taxes” and “Raising Revenues.”
You gonna fall for that?

yes.

Preaching to the choir does not mean you are getting your message out to the entire public.
That’s the issue here, not that Hot Air folks don’t know the silliness from the President, but that your average voter, who gets their info from the MSM actually thinks the Republicans are holding up progress.

next to the “f”—feckless, foolish, and failing.

What would happen if the leadership forced the entire Republican caucus to do NO mainstream TV until the media started doing its job. No Sunday shows. No interviews. Nothing.

Anonymous quotes would proliferate
“Sources close to Rep Boehner have confirmed that he is in fact sacrificing goats in his Congressional office in an effort to steal President Obama’s soul.”
“Rep Boehner refused to deny rumors that he is deliberately trying to wreck the economy.”
“President Obama stated today the reason Rep Boehner refused to talk to the media is that he doesn’t have a plan for rescuing the economy.”
LincolntheHun on December 4, 2012 at 7:06 PM
I think this is the wisest summary of the situation
If the GOP gets anything, it is only temporary before the next demand.
Obama is not going to reduce spending so the ceiling will be hit again and crisis mode will be broadcast by the MSM on orders from Obama, as if there had bee no deal made earlier
Doubt Obama will be satisfied until the GOP gives Geithner unlimited debt ceiling. Meanwile, Obamacare is going to be used to trash the active economy.
Forget zero sum gain. This is a zero gain scenario.
There will be no better publicity from the MSM either way.
Stop feeding him. Take the kicks. And start talking to the public by passing House bills, instead of talking to Obama, who is only using them for posing
