How Bobby Jindal got his mojo back
As new fault lines begin to form in the national conservative landscape, many influential Republicans told BuzzFeed the dynamic between the governors of Texas and Louisiana may prove key to shaping the future of the party.
Jindal endorsed Perry early on in the GOP primaries, at a time when Republicans were stampeding toward the Texas governor, convinced that he would be the nominee. But if Jindal’s initial endorsement was unsurprising, his unwavering fealty — expressed to the bitter end — impressed many in Perry’s camp. …
On the record, aides and operatives in both camps told BuzzFeed it was simply the product of a faithful friendship, describing a personal rapport between Perry, 62, and the younger conservative. They stressed the “friendly competition” shared by their neighboring states — complete with gentle trash talk at meetings of the Republican Governors’ Association — and soberly recalled stories of Texas going out of its way to aide Louisiana in post-hurricane cleanup. …
Two Republicans close to Perry even said the Texan would likely forego a second presidential race — which he is said to be actively mulling — if it meant running against his friend, Jindal.

I actually respect him less after the comments he made about Romney’s gift remarks.

Rubio/Jindal or Jindal/Rubio 2016– I’m cool with that

I’ll take Jindal over Perry every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Bitter Clinger on December 4, 2012 at 4:49 PM
He hasn’t given a major speech in three plus years.

Then try focusing more on more important things than soundbites, such as performance serving imperiled fellow citizens during several killer hurricanes.

Perry considering running again? hahaha lol hahah..
gatorboy on December 4, 2012 at 4:59 PM
Jindal is still my first choice-mainly because Perry needs to stay here.
annoyinglittletwerp on December 4, 2012 at 4:59 PM
Jindal delivers major speech 3/12/12. Worth a listen, especially by Illinidiva.
Christien on December 4, 2012 at 5:03 PM
You got that right! Perry, as well as Abbott seems to be doing a great job for our state.
Not sure about jindal though? Haven’t seen enough to make up my mind. I don’t think he would be on my list.

He had Mojo to lose?

Exactly. Competence>mojo, or at least it should be.

Same here.
Rubio’s speech at the Kemp Leadership Award will be shown on CSPAN tonight.

Jindal should run for Senate, he’d be good there. I’d never vote for him for President, though.
crosspatch on December 4, 2012 at 5:52 PM
Why not?
terryannonline on December 4, 2012 at 5:53 PM
I really like both Perry and Jindal. I’m fortunate to live in Texas, and I thank God for it everyday, especially since the election. I’m thinking Jindal might be the more successful presidential candidate, but the only thing I know for sure that is I have absolutely no say in what happens in the primary. My vote doesn’t count, so I’ll just sit here and watch, if I’m still around.
It looks like Hillary will be running too.
juliesa on December 4, 2012 at 5:58 PM
It’s funny because I’m anti-Rubio. I don’t see him as the champion of the conservative cause. He doesn’t take the fight to the President, he just campaigns.

Ditto. I read that he was jockeying for a position in Romney’s administration right up until he lost and then bashes Romney for speaking the truth afterwards. He only switched to Catholicism for political reasons and gave his kids Irish names for the same reason.

He converted to Catholicism when he was 17. You have no EFFING IDEA what his motivations were. His kids names are SOUTHERN-not Irish. I like you-but what you just wrote is BS!!
annoyinglittletwerp on December 4, 2012 at 6:44 PM
His remarks weren’t necessary. It had the CC effect (Chris Christie) of creating a moment that can be used forever. He might have thought he was doing the right thing, but it was not a wise thing. Especially right after the election. I had two thoughts when I heard it.
1: why?
2. Is this guy that stupid or does he simply hate success
He speaks well representing his state but he has been floated as a possible national choice. Jindal re cast what Romney said, downward. Romney didn’t deserve it. The GOP didn’t need that negative when they needed whatever shred of good public opinion left for the budget
entagor on December 4, 2012 at 6:58 PM
How about if we don’t respect vultures picking at the carcasses of each other solely for the purpose of jockeying for position TO THE MEDIA, the same media that will be stabbing Rs in the back until doomsday.
Should we respect such stupidity? No.
I believe that interview was to Politico, of all outlets. How can any conservative who has been paying attention respect or support that?
kim roy on December 4, 2012 at 7:07 PM
Have fun making a mountain out of that molehill, in this case. Not saying Jindal should’ve said what he did, of course. Just don’t think it’s that big a deal, like the moaning over his SOTU rebuttal. YMMV, again, of course.
Christien on December 4, 2012 at 7:19 PM
You don’t think feeding the media is a big deal? You clearly haven’t been paying attention. The media has been a big force in keeping the R message quiet and have been covering up for Obama.
Why would I remotely want to support a politician who hasn’t learned this? That would give the media soundbites willingly?
The next time the media destroys a candidate and we lose an election you remember this conversation and why they are in the position to do it.
Oh and by the way… Buzzfeed is run by Ben Smith of Journolist fame. If you don’t know, they coordinated their coverage of the McCain/Palin run.
So yeah, the media is a mountain. Enjoy losing.
