American efforts to persuade the Iraqis to randomly inspect the flights have been largely unsuccessful.

Randomly inspect would not work. Iran would simply tell Iraq which flights contain no arms – and those would be the ones inspected.

Interesting.

I happen to be one of those that believes that a similar thing happened in the run up to the first Gulf War – the much anticipated chemical weapons that Saddam Hussein had stockpiled were relocated to Syria.

Now, we’re hearing of a store of chemical weapons in Syria.
