Gingrich: House Republicans should stop negotiating with Obama
“There is no fiscal cliff. It’s absolute, total, nonsense,” Gingrich said.
“It is an excuse to panic. It’s a device to get all of us running down the road so we accept whatever Obama wants because otherwise we have failed the fiscal cliff, and how can you be a patriot if you don’t do what the fiscal cliff requires, and the fiscal cliff will appear to us one afternoon, much like the land of Oz, where there will be this person hiding behind the machine who will say, ‘Raise taxes now,’” Gingrich intoned, “and if you don’t raise taxes you’ll have violated the fiscal cliff.”
“Now, do any of you want to be the person who stands up and destroys America by violating the fiscal cliff? Do you want to go on one of the national networks and explain that you are so reactionary, so out of touch with life, that you don’t care that America is going to die late on Thursday?” Gingrich scoffed.

If that is your solution to the impending fiscal cliff crises, I side with Newt.

I am commenting on a blog. What about you?
I didn’t realize that you were presiding over congressional-forums.
The fact that compromise does not occur to you is telling. You’re done.
Now feel free to go and rage against the machine as if Republicans won. Winners know how to recover from a loss. Losers just pretend that they won no matter what.
Wake up.

And cook some bacon, you little genius…you get snotty with people, and when they put you in your place you throw a tantrum…back to the kids table for you, when you are little more mature, you can join us at the adult table, until then, sit back and listen and learn…you need it.
right2bright on November 29, 2012 at 3:17 PM
As others previously suggested, you really have no idea how to proceed?
You sound like a liberal, “Your wrong, but I have know idea what to do” unless of course “compromise” is your idea? In which case you miss the point entirely.
filetandrelease on November 29, 2012 at 3:17 PM
Thank you for your civility, strained though it may be.
For starters, I would not misuse the word “your” so egregiously. Aside from that your ideas are cute.
I DON’T WANT MY TAXES RAISED. But I also realize that I’m not an island. If we don’t rebuild Congress to a majority taxes will continue to rise IN THE FORM OF LIBERAL LEGISLATION AIMED AT OUR POCKETBOOKS.
Get control back. We must must must gain their momentary “trust.”
There is no Republican safety-net. The media will ensure a GOP demise if we don’t show a little contrition.
Understand how they work. We must let them beat themselves like they always do and conservative morals and values resurface with vengeance.
I’m patient enough to wait. Especially since all the whining right now makes you look like a chump.

Oh, the sweet, sweet irony.

If Newt’s so profound and on point why is his comment relegated to a blog-discussion and not real policy-talks?
Courtesy, garde. Mate forthcoming.

That’s not irony on your lips Cupcake.

Since you’ve displayed a keen interest in grammar- and punctuation-related matters in prior posts, I feel it is probably worthwhile to point out the gratuitousness of the hyphens in your above-quoted post.
steebo77 on November 29, 2012 at 3:46 PM
You really are an idiot and a complete waste of time.

How does one violate a cliff?
I think Gingrich has it wrong.
Obama doesn’t want Congress to raise taxes. They will go up automatically, if there’s no new legislation to avoid that. This problem is part of the fiscal cliff. Neither Obama nor the Republicans want that. The Republicans want to extend all tax cuts, Obama only wants to extend the tax cuts for people earning less than $250,000.
Gelsomina on November 29, 2012 at 3:50 PM
And this my friends is how Obama go elected…it’s that simple, like taking candy from a baby…Obama doesn’t want Congress to raise taxes, just let the “tax relief”…as if taxes and the amount is some mandate, something written in stone, that a reversal is some how inconceivable, not possible…just let the tax bills expire, taxes won’t go up, they will just “adjust”….good grief, double good grief, and you had no idea what you were writing, and I have a feeling you will still stand behind what you posted, you will argue, it’s not a tax increase…a perfect example of how a liberal mind works (you may think you are a conservative), perfect. Frame it and hang it all the wall…
right2bright on November 29, 2012 at 4:09 PM
We need firm negotiations. Leaving the negotiations is a failure of Congress doing their jobs. They’ve got a job to do, and if that job involves talking to an unconvinceable President, so be it.
Republicans need to pass and up/down bill to stop the “fiscal cliff” and send it to the Senate. Then they need to let the public know that the Senate has this House Resolution that they’re not acting on.

Everything is good until that last sentence…how do they do that? By going to the NYT? CNN? MSNBC? I know, Fox…get it, you are right, but in reality, it won’t work that way.

How many don’t= Obama voting total, 2012…

Are you familiar with the various style-guides for writers? Which do you prefer when commenting?
Accurate hyphenating is a thankless chore. My hyphen-usage is typically-accurate though at times, superfluous. I disagree about the gratuitous-nature thereof. I’d say it’s a bit more pretentious, no?
Also, knowing the difference between “your” and “you’re” does not denote a “keen interest” in
grammarspelling.Capitalist Hog on November 29, 2012 at 4:20 PM
Why don’t we try a deep cut to spending now, with a promise to raise taxes a little later — seeing how we’ve gotten the reverse in every “crisis” of the last couple of decades?
cthulhu on November 29, 2012 at 4:22 PM
Yeah, just like going to university, right?
Capitalist Hog on November 29, 2012 at 4:24 PM
Strunk and White disagrees, hyphen when the words are “recently formed”, but when common, drop the hyphen.
Nice try to cover…here’s a hint, when wrong, just admit it and move on, people forgive, but we always remember the idiocy of trying to cover a mistake.
right2bright on November 29, 2012 at 4:32 PM
Okay, again, just for you:
Letting tax cuts expire is a tax increase. Taxes will go up. This is bad for the economy. That’s why it is called a fiscal cliff. That’s why the Republicans try to avoid it.
Gingrich either doesn’t understand that and really thinks that Obama wants Congress to pass a tax hike bill to avoid the fiscal cliff, or he thinks he has to lie to get his point across.
