At first I thought blocking the Rice nomination was largely a distraction and waste of time. But I’m starting to think Obama is trying to set her up as his replacement, the Dem candidate in 2016.

I’m not convinced that Amb. Rice was just a wallflower who passively passed on the claim that it was a spontaneous act driven by that video. I think she was actively engaged in putting the best spin on the attack – that it couldn’t be prevented, that it had nothing to do with larger events in Libya, that it was just a mob that the White House knew nothing about – because they wanted to present Libya as a success story as well as promote the “AQ has been destroyed line.”

As I understand it, Ms. Rice is a tough person. She’s not just someone who will read whatever is put in front of her.

Was he in the situation room? [And if not in the situation room, what wasn’t he in there?]
What was he doing?
What orders did he issue?
Who was with him at the time?
What records are of these events?
Who gave the order to stand down?

Rice is a side issue.
