I hear you. We're not prepared, at all. I took some chances a few years ago in anticipation of what was coming and we lost everything we had, including my pension, 401K, house, and more. I'm currently working as a security guard at a local liberal college, and my wife is working in a warehouse filling phone orders. I'm about to start a new "career" as a truck driver, but I don't know if the end is far enough away for us to get to a point where we can survive. I'm afraid we're both in (or will be in) businesses that will suffer first.

But, so be it. God's will is what it is. If we don't survive the end, than I just hope and pray that we go quickly. I know it sounds a bit maudlin, but I face each day with hope and trust in God.

2. Stand firm on principle when it comes to Supreme Court nominations. This is where Obummer can do the most long-term damage that cannot be repaired by simply electing a competent president.

My husband's company is giving away the store this year in bonuses. I believe we are preparing to go Galt. It is scary, exciting and horribly sad all at the same time. I don't think their employees have a clue that this could be the beginning of the end.

If I could only find a Galt's Gulch that wasn't in Central America or on an island... I don't want to learn Spanish or tip over.

Risky gambit but what is the alternative?

This is it precisely. Our options are as follows:

1. Obstruct Obama's intentions for our country. We may prevent further damage, but if the economy is still on a downturn when the next election comes around, the left will have plausible deniability as far as fault for the then current state of affairs in the country. The media will have much to work with over four long years of hammering Republicans and half the country will believe them when they say that Obama could've fixed the country if only those Republicans went along with him. The media stranglehold on facts in this country makes this particularly difficult to attempt.

2. Give Obama what he wants. In the process of giving him what he wants, be sure to mention that you don't agree with his plan at all, but in the spirit of Presidential deference, you will allow an elected President to enact his plan for recovery (this allows for a future freebie during a Republican administration). The media will trumpet how awesome Obama is for scoring a victory over those Republicans and getting his plans through Congress and signed IN SPITE OF the GOP's best efforts to do otherwise, even though they willingly allowed him to enact his plans. The media can't help but do this, and it's going to come back to bite them in the collective ass. Some of the smarter outlets will see through this, and begin laying the mea culpa groundwork in the event that his plans fail miserably. Not unexpected. If it works (not likely), then our ideology sucks. If it doesn't work (likely), then the Democrats own it, and Obama's first line of public defense, the media, will have to walk back every ounce of the Obama hero-worship after they themselves pinned the blame on Obama and Obama alone for the state of the economy. A few outlets might try to claim that all is well and the economy is better than ever. Not unexpected, either. Most will attempt to scavenge what scraps of credibility they think they can recover from the uber-carcass of a failed administration and their efforts to protect it. People will see through the charade, after hearing ad infinitum about how Obama's plan will save us all a mere couple of years prior. Democrats will be completely exposed, which is a position they aren't often in due to the media running interference.

tl;dr we give them enough rope to hang themselves with. It's the only way the electorate will see them for what they are and the only tried-and-true way to show people what happens when you elect liberals. If you don't let liberals run the show every now and again, people actually start to believe that their ideology is good for something. A shame they always manage to use said rope to hang everybody else along with themselves, which I suppose is the endgame of socialism, the socializing of failures and all that.

I don't disagree. But the way progressives have ALWAYS resurrected failed programs is to blame the last failure on some group, and declare that "this time" it will be done right if we can stop that darn group from spoiling things. Orwell knew this; it's plain to anyone who observes the progressive government in action. Heaven on earth is unachievable, so the failure must be blamed on someone so another round of the insane experiment to achieve the unachievable can commence.

Blaming Obama for the ACA is pointless since he and others will blame the GOP or some subgroup for it's inevitable failure. Once people gave up believing in a Heaven in the afterlife, and bought into the possibility of achieving a heaven on Earth, this was bound to happen. The anti-progressives are the necessary "devils" in this new dogma. And there's always a new devil out there, even if the old ones die off or surrender.

Say what you want about Rand, but her Atlas Shrugged solution may be the only way to kill this Hydra. A pity that the shield doesn't exist. A pity a Galt isn't out there calling to us.

Dang, I'm looking over this and wondering what the heck got into me? Maybe it's the result of working a graveyard shift, and it's also my Friday. I'll be glad to quit this job in a few weeks..
